My Favourite Black Dagger Brotherhood by far!!!!!5
Beginning to end Zadist's story is superb. And what even better is that not only is he strong, but so is Bella, his love interest. Out of all the BDB books Zadist and Bella has more passion, more strength, and more life to them than any of the other characters. This is the one that I can read again and again and never get tired of it. Zadist is by far the darkest and most troubled BD Brother, but also has the most engaging story of the series. He is the character made to suffer the most (unlike his twin Phury - who's book is my least favourite).

If you are new to the Black Dagger Brotherhood, I would still recommend that you go back to the beginning of the series and start with Dark Lover and then Lover Enternal. Although J R Wards books can be read out of sequence you would be missing out on so much. Dark Lover is very much an introduction to Ward's world of Vamps and will get you involved in all the characters you will come to explore in later books in the series.

This book is an unmissable part of the series and just outstanding!

WONDERFUL !!5
I have never written a review before, but this series forces me to declare that I absolutely love it. I have read all the books in order and in a very short period of time. I have devoured them, never being able to put them down. It is a series I highly recommend. It is unmatched.. unique.. a great story as a whole. I have never read something so faboulous and captivating as the BDB.
The only fault is that with each book the romance diminishes, there is less space for the love story and more and more space is occupied by the secondary characters. But I have got to know them so well that I can hardly wait to see what happens to them. I find myself reading the stories of the secondary characters (John,Blay,Quinn...)as fervently as the main plot.
BUY THE WHOLE SERIES AND YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED. IT IS UNIQUE, SEXY, HOT, SOMETHING COMPLETELY NEW.

"Black Dagger Brotherhood" series book 35
Zsadist, a warrior vampire member of the Black Dagger Brotherhood has featured significantly in the previous two books of this series and to put it bluntly is one dangerous SOB. One could immediately question the sanity of any woman attracted to his scary appearance (scars and all) let alone his less than charming personality until learning of his own personal torments. Stolen at only seven months old, Zsadist was later sold into slavery, and following his transition into vampiric adulthood, became the blood slave of a depraved, insatiable woman prepared to inflict any sexual degradation upon his body. Stripped of all emotion until only a burning hatred is left Zsadist is one big emotional train wreck, taking down as many casualties as he can around him; including his twin brother; the beautiful Phury.

This book continues with the hunt for Bella, the vampire female kidnapped by the Lesser Society. Several months have passed since her abduction and although there are some who believe she is dead, Zsadist and the Brotherhood continue their search for her. When Bella is rescued, it is Zsadist she wants near her; for comfort to overcome her ordeal, to feed from to regain her health and to love and feel his protective strength surrounding her. Yet Z rejects her; unaware of how to handle a woman who actually wants him. Associating sex with only deep pain and shame, Z is unable to understand his body's physical reaction to her (and what a body!); unaware he is bonding and falling in love with Bella.

JRW creates vivid characters, people the reader can genuinely care for and root along side with as they face off their enemies in a variety of confrontations whilst battling their own personal demons. In fact I found some of the scenes in this book; particularly how Bella handles Zsadist's first experience of pleasurable sex and the death of a significant character deeply moving. I can only give a big thumbs up to a writer able to produce such emotive scenes amongst the heavy action that takes place.
