Synopsis
Rebecca Bloomwood has the dream job. She's a personal shopper, so is able to spend other people's money all day instead of her own. And she gets paid for doing it. The perfect job, the perfect man - gorgeous Luke Brandon - and now...the perfect wedding. Yes, Luke has proposed and wedding bells are in sight. No excuses are needed to start the shopping trip of all time. And Becky's parents are just assuming that the wedding will be at home - a marquee in the garden and Becky in her mum's wedding dress, which she's been saving specially for the occasion. But Luke's mother has very different ideas - a huge affair in New York in a forest glade setting - or perhaps a Venetian Ball, or a fin de siecle extravagance? Now Becky's getting confused. She doesn't want to say 'no' to anyone. The plans are going ahead, and soon it will be too late to turn back - from either wedding...

From the Back Cover
For once in Becky Bloomwood's life, things are going smoothly. She's got the dream job as a personal shopper (spending other people's money - and getting paid for it.) She's got a fabulous Manhattan apartment with her boyfriend Luke. They've even opened a joint bank account (although they can't quite agree on whether a Miu Miu skirt counts as a household expense).

Then Luke proposes - and all of a sudden life gets hectic. Becky's Mum wants her to get married in Oxshott and wear her old frilly wedding dress. Luke's mother wants to host a grand extravaganza at the New York Plaza, complete with woodland glade and the New York Philharmonic.

Becky knows she has to sit down and decide - but to be honest, it's a lot more fun tasting cake, trying on dresses and registering wedding presents. Time's ticking by, plans are being made both sides of the Atlantic and soon she realises she's in trouble...

Shopaholic Ties The Knot... because you only do it once. Don't you?

Customer Reviews

A good read all in all, as you'd expect from Sophie Kinsella4
Although Becky is incredibly warm and funny as always, I must confess to feeling a twinge of annoyance with the character at times regarding her wild imaginings, and also her inability to tell people the truth. She gets carried away, however, and doesn't want to hurt people's feelings, so she can be forgiven for it. She's also still in the habit of telling her partner, Luke, tiny white lies regarding her shopping habit. Yes, she still shops for England, or should that be New York? In this third book in the series, Becky is living with Luke in New York. She loves her work as a Personal Shopper at Barneys department store. Then Luke proposes, and all seems hearts and flowers . . . Except somehow she finds herself caught up in big plans for weddings in New York and in Oxshott (to take place on the same day!). Along the way, Luke has a breakdown brought about by his relationship with his mother, the cold Eleanor. It is left to Becky to pick up the pieces. And Becky does eventually solve the problem of the two weddings, and everybody ends up happy (as you do). I think Luke's character could be developed. He seems a little too distant at times.

Great book!!!5
This book is one of the best. It is so funny, i found myself laughing out loud a number of times. I think the shopaholic books are getting funnier and funnier each time one comes out. This book is true in what she is saying, we have to make every one happy, even though it is your wedding, and she does it in such a hilarius way!!! a must read for all women out there who likes a giggle.

Un-put-downable!4
I couldn't wait to get to the end of the book to see how Becky B managed to untangle herself from the double wedding fiasco! Having said that I didn't want the book to end. This is not my favourite in the Shopaholic series but still a great, funny and intriguing read!
