Editorial Reviews

David Mitchell, Indpendent on Sunday
‘A ghost story of the highest order.’

Guardian
'Memorably uncanny … the powerful mood of Strangers lingers well after its graceful, downbeat ending has passed.'

Daily Telegraph
'Restrained and moving … what might have been a simple ghost story evolves into a psychologically acute portrait.'

Customer Reviews

Absolute Rubbish!1
This book is one of the least spooky and intense books I have ever read. The plot is so blindingly obvious from about page 50 that it was painful to have to read the unfolding and predictable storyline slowly flop off the page. This is a short book, but not only that, the words on the pages are so large that if you put this into a normal sized font the book would be about 100 pages long.... Awful!

Absolutely terrible!1
I bought this book after reading some of the enthusiastic reviews of other customers and because I am trying to steer away from my usual genre of psychological thrillers. I think maybe I was reading a differrent book from everyone else as I found the whole story ludicrous! I got some funny looks reading this on the train as the writing was 'laugh out loud' awful. Maybe it lost a huge amount in translation - I certainly have no idea why they gave the Japanese father a ridiculous American accent. It's a shame because the idea of the story had a lot of potential but it just didn't work for me. Anyway, it's a cheap book and a very short read. Give it a go for a laugh, though best not to read it on the way to work!

a haunting tale5
I bought this book and was not disappointed. For anyone who has lost a parent and longed for the chance to go back in time to be the child you once were without any of the adult cares you now have and to just see them, hold them once more perhaps tell them just how much you loved them and miss them then this is the book for you with a bittersweet twist at the end. A delightful engaging book.
