Is Bugsy Malone Racist?
On the whole this is a great play to attract boys into expressing themselves through song and dance.
It's the anti-Irish racist nature of some of the lines that make me cringe. Surely in this day and age the 'Irish equals Stupid" brigade are long gone. But no, they are alive and kicking and humiliating the "Irish Potato Head" policeman in this play. It makes me cringe every time I read those lines.
