Two experts in sports psychology hone in on the mental approach that seperates the winners from the rest. For more than ten years, Dr Deborah Graham and Jon Stabler have devoted themselves to the scientific study of why, even among the pros, some players win frequently and others never do. In the first psychology self-help book tailored to golfers at every level, they draw on their research to spell out the eight specific personality traits that make the difference: Abstract thinking; emotional stability; tough-mindedness; self-assurance; self-sufficiency; and optimum arousal. Dave Stockton, Lee Janzen, Mark McCumber, and Michelle McGann are among the many golfers who have benefited from Dr.Graham's GolfPsych system. Now, this detailed, practical, and encouraging guide will make it possible for anyone to play like a champ.

Sharing proven steps for peak performance in golf
Always looking for a way to combine my love of sport and psychology, I found golf. After personally playing, or working with athletes from a myriad of other sports, golf emerged as the most difficult mentally!Years of exciting work and reasearch are combined in this book to share with you proven techniques for improving both your skills and your enjoyment of the game. Trying to make it both entertaining and instructional, we were kindly given persmission by many or our PGA,LPGA and Sr. PGA Tour clients--as well as a number of amateurs, including a housewife from Pennsylvania and a businessman from California--to use their trials and triumphs as fun, informative examples. If you or someone you know loves the game, we are certain some of the recommendations here will breath new life into an old game, renew the fun that has been lost, inspire an avid beginner and lower the stroke average of all who take it seriously. We hope you enjoy learning about yourself and how your personality influences your play--and that you feel the same excitement as our clients when you discover how much easier and more fun the game can be by simply changing some habits of thought! We would love to hear your comments!

Simple advice on the mental aspects of golf
A great book which draws on the authors considerable experience of working with Tour Pros. The book breaks the mental aspects of the game into 8 main characteristics that all Champion golfers seems to possess.
It then gives a method of self-testing yourself against these characteristics, together with proven methods of improving in each area. The book keeps everything nice and simple and uses real-life experiences from American Tour pros such as Lee Jansen to backup the theories.
Well worth a read for anyone interested in improving their golfing performance at any level.
A Fifteenth Club...
This book is worth the few quid for the chapter on Focus. The fact that it has 7 other quality chapters is a bonus.
Better focus is the one thing that will benefit everyone who plays golf - if you have ever wondered why you play two good holes, then two bad holes, practice your focus. As with all golf instruction books you have to make your own mind up as to which parts of the book to apply to your own game and which to disregard.
Overall, buy it if you think your swing is good enough, but you struggle to bring home the bacon...
Win the Golf "Mind Game"
Always on the look out to improve my game, I am not a great advocate of books to teach the swing. But I am aware of the benefits of sound, positive advice can be solicited from books aimed at the mental side. Having read (and listened to) Bob Rotella's efforts, this book presented a different slant on the psychology of the game. Whilst it would obviously be of benefit to have completed the questionnaire constantly referred to in the book and been properly analysed, this publication does provide a great guide to improving an often overlooked aspect of playing golf. The emphasis on key aspects of the way champions think and practical application to us strugglers is of great benefit. Now to apply this knowledge and shoot low (although not aware of that until I have finished the round). If you want to improve your mental approach to golf - this is a good guide.
