Lovely4
I bought this book to transfer designs onto knitted garments, and for that purpose this is book has a good variety of basic designs.

It would be a good introduction to cross stitching and provide a challenge to beginners and for ntermediate & experienced workers, it would be a useful starting point with designs to adapt and embellish.

Faeries - simplified3
In my opinion, the fairies in this book are very simple and crude. No elegance here. The only designs worth my while in this book are the seasonal fairies from page 72 to page 89, because the (over)simplified style and reduced lines don't actually look bad at all in them. As for the other designs, well, I don't find them appealing at all.

Also, this book only features the Tinkerbell-type fairies and cute little gnomes with pixie caps who live at the bottom of the garden. Don't expect to find Jenny Greenteeth or any of the other darker and more sinister denizens of the faerie realm here. Perhaps this book would be most useful for a person who is fanatic about fairies and is looking for nursery decoration?

I give this book three stars out of five, because the instructions are very clear and easy to understand, it has some useful tips on cross stitching techniques and it has a few appealing designs. The designs in this book are, however, oversimplified, making them easy for even a beginner to make, but lacking the elegance and detail that a more complex design would be able to express. All in all, not bad, but not excellent, either.

I do wish to stress, though, that the seasonal faerie designs are very nice. I do not regret bying this book.
