Average customer review:Product Description
Designed to help develop a bond between the horse and the trainer, which leads to greater trust and the ability to get the most from the relationship. This book includes step-by-step guides on how to improve the horse's suppleness, obedience and education from the groundwork level. It teaches the trainer how to tune in to the subtle body language of the horse and communicate with it in a much clearer way. It also contains techniques developed and applied by top trainers and equine behaviourists.

Fantastic Book! Buy it!
I cannot rave about this book enough - it gives tips on training both young and older horses and goes through the basics of Parelli, Kelly Marks etc ... I found it invaluable for groundwork, and this has created a very special bond and respect between me and my horse. And Im glad I did as she's a 18hh 5 year old shire! It tells you all about gaining their respect and visa versa and I cannot stress enough how EVERY SINGLE RIDER/OWNER in the UK should have this book.
If you are having problems with your horse, having a crisis of confidence, or simply want to get that bond of trust and respect between you and your horse, then this is the book for you. ANY FORWARD THINKING RIDER/OWNER SHOULD BUY THIS BOOK.
Groundwork Training for your Horse:Develop a Deeper Bond with your Horse through a range of Exercises and Games
I completely agree with pale face - this book is just an introduction to techniques and philosophies that the novice rider may have heard about. It is only a general overview of some of the 'schools of thought' on horsemanship so is NOT a training manual as the title would suggest. I would also go so far as to say that the oversimplification of some techniques could make trying some of the activities dangerous - the horseman or woman needs to understand the whole philosophy and building blocks of any training approach to do it effectively and safely. What do they say - ' a little bit of knowledge is a dangerous thing'?. There are so many better and more specific books on training approaches so this, in my opinion, is a book to avoid.
interesting, but just not enough
i bought this book not that long ago and at first it seemed great, but the problem is that even though it tells you all about the different techniques, it doesn't tell you enough to be able to use them with your horse. it is more a presentation of the different people's methodes rather than a book about how to train your horse. but even though i have only said bad things about this book, there are still a few very interesting parts in it about how to long rein, and advanced dressage figures,... if you are looking for a book of how to train your horse, then don't buy this book, but if you are interested in an introduction to different methodes then this book will be perfect for you.
