When all begins5
It is the first book I read of Anthony Horowitz, and it will not be the last. This book goes back to 1983 and yet all the ingredients having made the success of Harry Potter are already in this novel! There are mystery, suspense, bounces, sympathetic characters, all played on nerves, in an opaque and oppressive atmosphere. I was not totally captured at the beginning, but then I couldn't help to raise my nose from this book!

Groosham Grange book review4
Horowitz has truly made a masterpiece of 'Groosham Grange'. This a novel about three children all sent to the same school by their heartless parents. The school is strange and David, Jill and Jeffery can't figure out what it is. But when something happens to Jeffery, David and Jill have to find out what is happening at this abnormal school before it's too late.

This book is set on an island just off the coast of a Norfolk. 'Groosham Grange' is a realistic because of the real places for example: Hunstandon and Norfolk.

'Groosham Grange' is such a brilliant story that you just want to read and read it all day long. This book has a humours, witty and thrilling narrative. It also includes magic and a spooky setting. 'Groosham Grange' is a new 'Harry Potter' but a more bloodthirsty and depressing ending.

Characters:

David: David is a twelve year old boy. He lives with his mother and father in a medium sized house. David has just been expelled from his old school (Beton collage) and his father is not too happy about it. But when the letter arrives, Mr. Elliot is pleased. David is sent off at once. But does David like the school as much as his father does????

Jill: Jill is a twelve year old girl. She lives alone with her nanny. Jill's parents are always busy. Jill's mother is a actress and once, she saw Jill in the street and didn't recognise her. Her father, as soon as he saw the letter he jumped to it.

Jeffery: Jeffery is a twelve year old boy. He is fat and has a stutter. He is the sort of boy who would be bullied. Of course Jeffery was bullied and when he was expelled from his school, he father received the letter. Jeffery's father sent him to Groosham Grange in hope of toughening him up. But did it work???

This novel is a cliff-hanger and a must-read. It is for ages 8+ (intermediate readers) and they will be sitting on the edge of their seats reading it.

My School Review5
This book is a must read! It's funny and scary but also brilliant. Once you start reading it you will never stop!

I loved this book when I first read it and immediately read the next one. Its supernatural but so are the parent. But it almost makes the story better. I recommended Anthony Horowitz to my brother and he has almost read all his books and is waiting for the new Alex Rider! This story gives you the shivers but also keeps you laughing for hours so don't get put off by the front cover.

This book is mainly about a boy called David Elliot who gets expelled form his old school Beton collage. His new school is just weird! It's situated on an island that isn't on the map. With his best friends Jill and Jeffery they try to figure out the mysteries of Groosham Grange but they do not know what they are getting into. All the teachers are weird and so are the boys. But Jeffery suddenly changes he now is wearing a black ring. Then David escapes he steels Captain Bloodbaths boat and heads for Norfolk. But in the library he finds a book on Groosham Grange and finds out all its secrets.

I would highly recommend this book to 8-12 year olds it had me laughing for ages but maybe not for those who are lovers of Animal Hospitals you might not find it very interesting. It's a really good book and I hope lots of people enjoyed it just as much as me!
