Customer Reviews
A thoroughly enjoyable read!
Bathsheba Clarice de Trop is a brilliant character and I loved her upbeat way of looking at the world. She often sounds full of herself, but as the book progresses you start to understand more about her life and what's really behind her dramatic personality. Light-hearted but with considerable depth, this book is entertaining and definitely worth reading!
More please!
This has great appeal and warmth and is perfect for older children. Bathsheba is a well-drawn, perfect character who really makes you laugh...and cry!
I can't wait for the sequel!
Heartwarming
This book is not at all what I expected when I started reading. It looks like a simple diary for quite young readers but it is so much more. The cheerful first person narrative hides a wealth of self deception which dawns on the reader before the main character works it out for herself. And when she does it is touchingly sad, but then becomes delightful as Bathsheba begins to sort her life out. It remains charming and innocent throughout but there are nonetheless some life lessons in the story. I can't recommend this book warmly enough. It should appeal to girls of 7-12.
