The most powerful book ever. Revenge over evil.5
The first time you read this book you will read it at break-neck speed, feeling guilty even to go to the toilet. You will go steam through each page, until you reach the end. At this point you will read it again, but slightly slower. This will all happen on the first day. The next day you may even read it a third time.

If there are any Germans near you, warn them to keep away. Your emotions will rocket as you slip into the world of DIN. You will feel what it is like to be a Jew in the Holocaust, you will understand the anger of the survivors. Yet, these emotions can be no more than shadows of the actual event.

Elkins has written the book almost as a friend talking to you. His slips into sarcasm emphasise the horror of the situation. His contrasts in the book are shocking.

This book should be owned by every decent person on the planet. It should be read reguarly by all.

Revenge and retributition for the holocaust5
I'd read a lot of books about the holocaust before I read this, but this changed everything - brought everything into focus. It is right up there with Primo Levi's 'if this is a man', more impersonal and in a more direct narrative style but with just as much impact.

This book is about those brave jews who stood up to the nazis. It asks a direct question - "did the Germans not deserve to suffer revenge and retribution for the holocaust? - read this and the only answer can be yes.

A Major Impact5
I have just finished Forged in Fury and it is an amazing account of what happened to the Jews between the 1930's and 50's. For some the book may be too gruesome as Elkins describes the atrocities but he writes in such a way that you have to keep reading; the book moves between complete objectivity to passages that are filled with emotion and beautifully written. There are times when the reader will completely understand why the Jews in Israel are so defensive and yet times when you may ask yourself how can the Jews persecute any race after what was done to them.
