Synopsis
In the shadows of the night in Caldwell, New York, there's a deadly war raging between vampires and their slayers. And there exists a secret band of brothers like no other - six vampire warriors, defenders of their race. Now, an ally of the Black Dagger Brotherhood will face the challenge of his life and the evil of the ages. Butch O'Neal is a fighter by nature. A hard living, ex-homicide cop, he's the only human ever to be allowed in the inner circle of the Black Dagger Brotherhood. And he wants to go even deeper into the vampire world- to engage in the turf war with the lessers. He's got nothing to lose. His heart belongs to a female vampire, an aristocratic beauty who's way out of his league. If he can't have her, then at least he can fight side by side with the Brothers...Fate curses him with the very thing he wants. When Butch sacrifices himself to save a civilian vampire from the slayers, he falls prey to the darkest force in the war. Left for dead, found by a miracle, the Brotherhood calls on Marissa to bring him back, though even her love may not be enough to save him...

"Black Dagger Brotherhood" series book 45
Butch O'Neal, the scotch loving, ex-cop with the dubious past and the only human ever to not only retain his memories of the Black Dagger Brotherhood but also work beside this clan of warrior vampires, takes centre stage in book four "Lover Revealed".

When Butch is snatched and tortured by Lessers, he has the dubious pleasure of meeting The Omega; the evil force behind the creation of these soulless ex-humans who strive to exterminate the vampire race. Found by Black Dagger member Vishous, Butch retains few memories of his experience but knows two things; he didn't break under his torture and something happened to him to make him a huge threat to the Brotherhood. Now stained by evil, Butch shows the signs of a Lesser conversion; however when facing his enemies he finds himself killing them in a unique manner.

There is of course no surprise whom Butch's love interest is in "Lover Revealed"; vampire Marissa who has featured throughout this series. Their relationship has started off rocky; Butch believing he is far from worthy of the beautiful, aristocratic Marissa, whilst she feels fundamentally flawed in some way as she remains unmated. They have various issues to confront, such as Butch's inability to feed her and his resulting jealousy when she turns to another male, his mortality and the danger he places himself in; all interwoven with plenty of action as the Brotherhood continue their war against their enemies and unearth a Lesser prophecy.

This is another great book from JRW and certainly on par with the first three books of this series. The intense relationship between Butch and Vishous is further explored, the first transition takes place, Butch smart mouths The Scribe Virgin (it's lucky she appears to like him) whilst Mr X; leader of the Lessers, is working towards the end of the prophecy. There's plenty more exploits and adventures and some life changing events occur, but I'll let you find out the best bits yourself.

Loved it5
I have read all four of the Black Dagger Brotherhood novels and they are amazingly hard to put down. I find that I really have to savour each page as they seem to go by all too quickly and before I know it the book is done and I'm left thirsty for her next installment. This, the fourth installment in this deliciously addictive series, is as good as the three before it. It is an intense and emotionally powerful read. JR Ward has a talent for building characters and making you want to get into their heads even deeper - they are erotic, powerful and likeable. I love reading for entertainment and if you're looking for a ride you'll NEVER FORGET... I would also recommend, if you missed reading Tino Georgiou's masterpiece--The Fates, go and read it.

Absolutely Brilliant!5
I've read Sherilyn Kenyon, Angela Knight, Christine Feehan, Kresley Cole and Lynn Viehl, and NONE of them touch the sides in comparison to J R Ward. Feehan is close but Ward pushes all the right buttons as far as I'm concerned.

I've read all the Brotherhood series and this, without a doubt, is the best one. Only by a very slim margin, because they're all good. I admit the language of the books takes a little getting used to, because of all the street talk, hip-hoppy, urbanness of the books - a woman trying to talk like a streetwise man - but once I got into the characters, I just had to have more. I've read all of them twice at least twice...

We met Butch, our lead character, in Dark Lover, the first of the series, when he first becomes involved with the Brothers and we see his relationship with the female vampire, Marissa, develop throughout. There's lots of miscommunication, things not said, things that should have been said - and all the usual suspects but, I felt for him when he felt Marissa was lost to him. I felt his pain, his frustration, his anger, his passion. Much credit to Ward for evoking these emotions in me. There's also the relationship he has with Vishous, a Brother and his best friend. It's odd but it's so not. You'll have to read it to know what I mean. And I loved the twist ending. I thought I knew what it was, but I was so wrong.

I have to say that the love scenes in this book, as in all the series, are some of the best I've EVER read. Probably THE best! From total tenderness to mad lust, it was amazing. Now THAT'S how to write a love scene! J R, you go, girl!

If you like a down to earthiness about your Vamp novels, then there's nothing left for me to say but to "buy, buy, buy!" Brilliant!
