The best bird guide around!
One of the best field guides I have seen. It is for birds in both Britain and Europe and is a handy size to carry around. The photographs used are stunning and for each bird there is an amazing amount of information:
- Several photos of each bird, with one large photo annotated to show distinguishing features.
- Paragraph explaining many interesting facts about the bird
- Drawings showing the bird in flight (several for birds of prey)
- Type of habitats they live in
- Small map to show regions where they can be found and at what time of year
- Many show both the male and female at different times of the year. Also for some birds the juvenile and immature adult as well.
- Calls of the birds
- Nesting habits
- Feeding behaviour
- Similar types of species
- Small symbols to show size of bird relative to four well known species (which you don’t find in many guides and I find it most useful)
- Often tips to explain any details between closely related species, so you can tell them apart.
Basically, a very thorough guide with such a large amount of detail in a useful size. If you need a bird guide, this is the one you should buy. Highly recommended
Essential
This nice little pocket guide is essential for everyone who is beginning to observe birds .It contains all the species that one is likely to find in the British Isles .
Identification of birds is made easy by comparing the birds with the most similar species and highlighting the differences.
This guide will fit into any small back pack and will resist the past of time very well .
Reasonably priced and of a very nice size this guide and a pair of binoculars is all you need to start bird watching.
This is the best POCKET guide
This is the best field guide that I have seen and used, and it's one that actually fits in a pocket! The colour pictures are superb, along with a useful amount of facts and reference material. This is a nicely scaled version of the large format RSPB Bird Guide. I also think that this is a lot of pocketable guide for the money.
