Average customer review:Product Description
At 30, Duncan Bannatyne had no money and was enjoying life on the beaches of Jersey. He saw a story of someone who had made himself a millionaire, and decided to do the same himself. Five years later he had done it, and now he is worth 168 million. In this remarkable book, Bannatyne relives his colourful path to riches, explaining how anyone could take the same route as he did - if they really want to. In the book, we see how he started out as an ice cream salesman, and built up that business, before moving on to other areas. Hugely articulate, and with numerous fascinating and revealing stories to tell, this is an autobiography and a business book unlike any other - but then Bannatyne isn't like any other businessman, either.

Not bad overall
Not a bad book overall. I don't really have an interest in reading about busines men with Casinos. Anyone can make a lot of money with a casinos as you will have gamblers addicted to it so what has this got to do with running a business successfully? You're making money from addicts. Easy money! I am actually a Dragon's Den addict. Sure, they're all millionaires and arrogant and the try to show it and can be quite contrasending times. Duncan however seems quite level headed although probably one of the most hesitan in terms of investing in any ideas. I enjoyed the book overall though and was not disappointed. This is a man that made his own luck. He started off seeling ice cream from an ice cream truck n had to build his businesses and that's hard work.
Biography not a business Book
I bought this book because it was advertised as good business book, its not, it's an excellent book about Duncans life and is a good read , but as book about his business it is not good.At one point he actually writes that "he is not giving his secrets away for the price of a book".
He has been very successful and is a serial businessman but I found the book lacking in detail as to how he managed it.
But it a good read and his story is well worth reading.
Inspiring!!
I have been truly inspired by Duncan Bannatyne's account of his exciting life and thoroughly deseved wealth! As a fellow Scot I was always drawn to his character on Dragon's Den, but it was so nice to read a very frank and open review of his life.
I would thoroughly recommend this book to anyone who admires a determined person. It seriously inspired me to continue my business dreams with a little more viguor!
Like other readers I could not put the book down so prepare for some late reading evenings!
Thank you Mr Bannatyne for an excellent book and an inspiring read. It must be so nice to know that you can touch other people's lives with your enthusiasm.
