Carol Vorderman is leading the detox craze with the follow-up book to her popular video, 28 Day Detox Diet. She has teamed up once again with Ko Chohan, creator of the detox diet, to provide guidance to those wanting to lose weight, gain energy and feel better about themselves.

If you are new to the detox diet, don't fret: the book covers the same ground as the video, explaining what detoxing is, why we should do it and how to go about it. Unlike the video it then offers recipes for those stuck on what to do with pulses, vegetables, grains and not much else. It also suggests ways of integrating the principles of detox into your life once you've completed the 28-day plan.

Vorderman is a friendly guide on this detox tour. She admits that it's not easy--and she's right. No carbohydrates, dairy products, meat, caffeine or alcohol. But the idea isn't as scary as it first sounds. The strict guidelines are only for 28 days, not a lifetime. The genius of this book is that Vorderman somehow convinces you that cutting out everything you love from your diet--chocolate, coffee, cheese--is not only a good idea, but is an attainable one.

The recipes are easy enough to follow and quite tasty, though stocking up your cupboard with the vital ingredients and supplements may be costly. Don't be fooled, this is a complete lifestyle change for most people and will be a hard slog. But, if you give it a shot and stick to it, it seems you will reap the rewards. --Amelia Crook

Fantastic! I feel great!5
I have always been a bit sceptical about these detox things but after losing 5 stone and hitting a plateau I felt like I needed to do something more. My Auntie recommended this detox plan and we decided to do it at the same time so we could support each other as it was my first time. I must admit the initial outlay was expensive but then you've basically got what you need and just have to keep stocking up, although the items do tend to last a few weeks at a time. I'm now on my last week of the detox and I feel fantastic. I'm sleeping more soundly, my skin is in excellent condition and I think I've lost a few pounds although I'm not weighing myself until the last day (was 10st 7lbs on day 1). The best thing for me is I'm really enjoying all the foods! I'm now a convert to brown rice and wheat free pasta and the majority of the recipes in this book are delicious! I havent been hungry once and am actually enjoying all these healthy foods! It's a real turnaround for me. I even went out for an Indian curry Friday night with family and had chappati and a dry vegetable curry so I could stick to my detox as much as possible! Remember it's not primarily about weight loss, if you just generally need to feel better about yourself and less sluggish, lethargic etc etc then this book is for you!!!

First feel well diet book I have tried4
I am now on day 26 of the diet, and I am very happy with the results.
It took me 10 days to start losing weight, but then it started coming off steady. I have lost 1 size and something and I am being able to wear clothes that I had stored at the back of the closet for years. I have always had good skin, but now it does look lighter also. My hair is softer and more manageable, and the cellulite diminished slightly (nothing dramatic here, but at least something!). Even more, I feel great and I hardly noticed that I was dieting. I loved most of the recipes and didn't crave for sweets of chocolate. I have been sleeping 8 hours straight since day 1, and my constipation completely disappeared.
The benefits have been so great that I simply don't feel like going back to old ways of eating anymore.
I absolutely recommend this book to anyone wanting to lose some weight or just feel better!

My lifeline4
I have tried it previously but i was the only one doing it so at the end of the 28 days i had no incentive to carry on and slowly started putting the weight back on. but i had a goal and have stuck to it!

It is expensive and a lot of preparing and hard work but it does get easier and its an achievement when you sit down to eat and really enjoy the meal!. (theres been a few receipes we have had to look twice at like our 'bubble and squeak' which turned out more like a cow patt!)

We are on day 48 at the moment (we completed 28 days and are going around again!) In those 48 days i have lost around about 22 lb and my mum has lost around about 15lb. I have so much energy it is unreal i wake up bright eyed and bushy tailed in the morning work like a trojan during the day get home and do what is needed around the house and i don't actually feel tired till i lay in bed and as soon as my head hits the pillow i am fast asleep. I no longer wake in the night. i never have had trouble with my skin so i don't know if it has effected that.

I tried to eat a normal meal a week or so ago i just sat and ate and ate but i wish i hadn't as i felt sick for days!!

It has completely changed my eating habits and it truly is the best thing i have ever done.

I have dropped a dress size or two and getting a lot of compliments!

I have had that weight loss and all the time i have not taken the supplements (couldn't get on with swallowing them) and i have not given up a single cup of coffee and i still smoke!!!
