This book will inspire and encourage you to learn more about the art of magic. In doing so you will find a hobby that will fascinate you for the rest of your life.
From the comedy magicians such as Tommy Cooper to the masters of illusion; Siegfried and Roy and later with the television magicians Paul Daniels and David Blaine all are covered in the historical section of the book – as a source of inspiration.
Then move on to learn how to dazzle friends and family with over 120 magic tricks. Amaze them with dinner table or mind magic, or by simply using commonly found items like money, or matches.
This wonderful book encourages aspiring magicians, to not only learn how to put on an entertaining show but also to continue to keep the secrets of this remarkable art.

Greatest since Mark Wilson's Complete Course in Magic
Do you remember the first magic book you ever bought? "The Art Of Magic and Sleight Of Hand" by Nicholas Einhorn has just been released, and is the definitive work for providing a firm foundation in magic. Attractively laid out, it covers the secrets and performance details of a wide range of tricks, and explains how to achieve a polished performance. It includes tips and advice on planning patter and creating and rehearsing your own performance style.
The book opens with the "History of Mystery", an introduction to the most important events and names in magic's rich history. This is a much needed section which would not be found in most magical books - it goes into exquisite detail, covering magicians from Dedi in 2600 BC to Chung Ling Soo, inventors such as Robert Harbin, and legendary performers like Tommy Cooper and Dai Vernon.
Cards, coins and money, matches, rope and mental magic are all explained with over 1,000 full colour photographs showing both the audience's and the performer's perspectives. The book also shows how to perform magic with such everyday dinner-table objects as napkins and sugar cubes.
Nick Einhorn is a renowned member of The Inner Magic Circle, who awarded him with a gold star for his performance and teaching ability. In 1996 he became The Magic Circle Close-up Magician of the Year in 1996. This is the sort of book that can instill a lifelong interest in magic, and is destined to become a classic.
A good all round book
The books laid out in sections (card magic, mind magic, money magic etc) which makes it easy to focus on the areas that interest you. I also found this meant that I could glance over areas I was not necessarily interested in and learn a thing or two.
I liked the history of magic and short introductions to each sections type of magic. The book I think is aimed at the beginner or younger reader but the clarity offered by the photos means you can grasp the techniques readily.
Its not full of AMAZING tricks but there are a good few tricks you will want to learn and demonstrate.
Excellent beginner's book...
...and not at all bad for those of us who are more advanced. Not as comprehensive as the Mark Wilson Course, but much more attractively produced and the historical information is fascinating. I'd strongly recommend it for an older child or teenager who has outgrown magic sets and wants to go further.
