A searing vision of Spider-Man's future, brought to you by superstar Kaare Andrews (Incredible Hulk). They finally did it. Kicked them to the curb. The "capes and tights" crowd - there's no place for them in the Big Apple anymore. Peter Parker? He can't even remember what it was like to don the red and blue and swing through the night sky. Doesn't want to, anyway. After all, there's nothing left to fight for, is there? That is until an old "friend" appears on Peter's doorstep, bearing a package and a message - and everything changes. If it's not Peter's responsibility, then whose is it? Collects Spider-Man: Reign #1-4.

Spiderman meets The Dark Night Returns.
This book is set around 30 years in the future. Spiderman is retired and Peter Parker is back to being a loser. Vigilantes are outlawed (along with anything that is half interesting).
Fortunately Spiderman returns to the fold once more to fight the corrupt "reign" and one of his fierest enemies.
I enjoyed this book but I'm willing to bet that Frank Miller didn't as it totally rips off a very famous Batman story he wrote over 20 years ago!
Buy it but do not expect any originality.
Dark Fight
I know this little comic-shop in a place I like to call britian. It can be found at Bedford, the name's Close Encounters. I've built up quite a friendship with the manager, one enough so that he paid to get two graphic-novels- Spiderman-Reign and Batman- Black and White vol.1. I must say that I thoroughly enjoyed both. Reign is more of a darker story, instead of the Spiderman cracking jokes, we see a much more brutal, darker side to him. Now, he is the Spiderman that will tear your head off. I found that this novel was very similar to Miller's Dark Knight Returns, in two aspects- 1, it is a much darker story, and 2, it is about the heroes return and his fight against a corrupt government. I highly recommend this to any Miller fan or Spidey-freak.
this is what you get for buying a book based on the cover
spider-man hugging mary janes grave? wow this looks good! wrong!
being fair the artwork is brilliant in this book. you can really feel how fragile peter parker is, physically and mentally. the haunting figure of mary jane is also beautifully realised.
but there's too much wrong here with the actual story to give it any more than two stars, i wish i hadn't bought it. it's an irritating read.
