kept the pages turning4
this is the third novel in the jack daniels series. things are not good for our jack since we left her. mother in a coma, no boyfriend and her job may be on shaky ground. an old case comes back to haunt jack and this time she needs to put it to rest, lots of red herrings and when it finally is all revealed it feels like all the clues were there to see. kinda had a feeling who the killer was but it still came as a surprise.

great energy, kept me turning those pages, some gory moments not for the faint hearted. loving jack as i feel she has grown as a person since whiskey sour.

Don't be fooled by the 'Chick Lit' cover4
'Rusty Nail' is the third book in the Jacqueline 'Jack' Daniels mystery series. Jack is a tough talking American cop with the Chicago Police Department. The book starts when Jack receives a video of a woman being tortured to death, although she can't identify the woman she knows the location well, the home of a serial killer called 'The Gingerbread Man' who she caught a couple of years previously.

The story continues as more videos are received and Jack tries to catch the killer, with help from her trusty sidekick Herb.

Expect the usual dark humour in this book, the one-liners are often really funny, but the violence and moments of suspense are often pretty gruesome. The book does stand alone, but if you want to get the most from it, it might be better to start with 'Whiskey Sour' to appreciate who the copycat is copying!

Recommended, but not for the squeamish!
