Synopsis
Designers, photographers, and fashion editors all agree that the street is the cauldron of fashion inspiration. The clothes, the accessories, and the looks developed by (particularly young) people in different cities today is both an inspiration to the mainstream fashion world, and a phenomenon distinct to their environment. The book will be divided into five chapters, one chapter for each city (New York, Paris, London, Berlin, Tokyo Melbourne and Copenhagen). Each city chapter will begin with an introduction explaining the city's particular brew of geography, culture, and fashion. Then, a series of photographs of stylish young people in each city will follow. Each subject will respond to a series of questions (name, age, occupation, meaning of their look, and so on). The photographs are taken on-site, by Nylon's own photographers. The book will juxtapose the different looks of each city, in an exciting but timeless documentary style.
Customer Reviews
Nylon World Street Fashion
The styles in here are a lot more wearable than in fresh Fruits, the colours are more muted but very stylish still. Again, little text and information on where the items came from, but good photography and interesting compositions. Its also quite funny spotting the 'celebrity' people in the book, including Cedric from Harry Potter. Good for everyday clothes inspiration, and another coffe table book for a good flick through if you're bored!
An excellent source book!
As a fashion student I find it difficult to research cultural style in other countries without actually hopping on a plane - this book is fantastic for giving a little insight to some of the major fashion capitals of the world. It shows real people with their own quirkiness without all of the magazine 'styling'.
Also perfect for fellow designers who have difficulty in finding decent 'poses' for illustrations!
what an amazing book.
This book is very similar[...]and the Japaneses magazines fruits (which is why i bought it). It's really amazing for anyone wanting inspiration to make or design clothes. I'd Definitely recommend it, I only wish it was longer!
