I do enjoy these books but...
I have grown very fond of this series of books & have been waiting to read Kill's story with anticipation. On Kill & Marty's story alone I would have given it 5 stars. It is very funny in parts, which had me in stitches. I'm glad to see Marty standing up to Kil. Telling him no in her own way.

The down part for me has nothing to do with Kill & Marty, but his nieces predicament. At the end of this book we have Dari who is 14 years old being sent away to live with her future sacred mate & his parents because she has caused him embarrasement. She cannot see her family only if her future sacred mate allows it. She has to live with him for 11 years before he can claim her. The scene with her parents after being told of her punishment was heart-breaking. I cannot believe Zor agreed to Gio's petition to have Dari removed from her parents home & into his custody. What kind of man does that to his own brother? With brothers like that who needs enemies.

ENSLAVED is the fourth book in the TREK MI Q'AN series, and if you have read any of my other reviews you will be aware I am a HUGE fan. I must however state that even within this excellent series ENSLAVED is something very special and I urge all fellow fans of erotic scifi to read it.

We first meet MARTY baring significant body parts in front of the White House all in the name of Womens Lib. Hours later our rampant 60's feminist thinks she's inhaled too much of the waccy baccy when she falls through a wormhole and lands on the planet TRON. Her first alien contact is with the WANI, 7 foot warrior women with neon pink eyes. As MARTY would say .... definitely not groovy!!! Though she adjusts easily to the matriarchal society (after all it's a feminists dream come true), she disapproves of a males role - puny 6 foot men are kept as slaves for any purpose his owner feels he is fit for, be it heavy labour or sex. The tables are soon turned though when MARTY herself is captured on a battlefield by KIL. She is taken as his bound servant, placed in his harem and expected to be honoured by KIL's obvious attraction to her. MARTY is initially resistant to her own strange empathic reaction to KIL and culturally ignorant to its significance. Though overwhelmingly drawn to him she continually refuses his summons to the bedchamber and leaves poor frustrated KIL utterly bewildered by her views that the women he owns should 'subvert the dominant paradigm' and equally baffled by his overpowering need just to be in her presence.

We learn that KIL (whom we first met in THE EMPRESS' NEW CLOTHES) was only 10 yessat years old when he witnessed his mother JANA brutalised to death by insurrectionists. Since that moment he has firmly closed his heart to any emotion, to such an extent that he fails to recognise his own sacred mate and extends to her the gravest of insults within his society by placing her in his harem. He quickly returns home to beg her forgiveness and more importantly to officially claim her, only to discover that she has fled the planet. However as her sacred mate he has a lock on her scent and so the hunt begins.....

ENSLAVED is definitely one of the funnier books in the TREK MI Q'AN series yet also has a deeper poignancy as MARTY and KIL experience quite a nasty problem after he clasps the bridal necklace around her. MARTY is an absolute delight, clearly embracing her new life and adjusting to a seventh dimension society far more easily than any other human sacred mate before her. MARTY's own attitude clearly advocates 'make love not war'and it shows. KIL has no choice but to open up around MARTY. We witness the emotional walls crumbling and a hard man learning that he needs the feisty wee warrior by his side forever. And let us not forget the other charcters we have met before. LORD DEATH and KARI bond, yet neither of them know it, KARA is formally introduced to her sacred mate CAM and ZOR makes a terrible decision over the life of DARI which jeopardises KYRA's friendship with GERIS. If these names mean nothing, then I strongly recommend you read BLACK's earlier offerings in this series. If however you know these characters then you're in for some BIG surprises.
