A truly fascinating and wonderful book to read.5
As a freelance equestrian journalist I read a lot of books on horses and this book has to be amongst one of the best. Beautifully and lovingly written it is fascinating to read and difficult to put down even for a moment.

Almost a Whisper contains forty years experience of observing, handling and training horses. Sam Powell's logical and fresh approach gives the impression of a man who really has a talent for educating people and wants to make a difference. His gentle personality and love of the horses shines through on every page. He has so much valuable information and tips to share whether you are a novice or an experienced rider and irrespective of which discipline you are in. All those professionals out there that begin training the young horse could learn a thing or two from Sam. It will not only change the way you interpret your horse's tiniest actions but it will ensure a harmonious and also safe partnership with your equine friend forever. A valuable gift to horse lovers all over the world. truly wonderfull!

This guy is awesome5
Having read many of the so called 'Horse Whisperer's' books I was expecting much of the same and was pleasantly surprised. This book is all about how to understand your horse, why he acts like he does and how we should really view our equine friends. I was truely moved by his words.

The author tells many stories to make you smile, including how he found out about a kinder way of training horses. From his life as a boy wanting to a cowboy, to stories told to him by his father, to the horses that he now helps across the States and beyond.

This book is perfect if you are just coming into the notion that there are better ways of schooling a horse than whips and spurs. Absolutly first class.
