A brilliantly Gripping Memoir of How a Troubled Trailor Parker Became A Poker Superstar
When I first learned anything of Mike Matusow, I must confess that kind thoughts were far from my head. In fact I could think of only one professional player who could stir up as much trouble at the table: Phil Helmuth. So I confess to buying this book not so much because I was a fan of Mr. Matusow. Moreover I wanted to know the story behind this apparently half crazed poker playing genius.
So, did I get a story!? Did I get A STORY!!!??? This became an unputdownable tale of excess and mental instability, a real rollercoaster of a ride through Mike's life up to now, that was at times thrillingly exhausting to read - but always compelling. As I literally flew through each chapter I went from someone who was reasonably curious as to what was going on with 'this' guy, to someone who deeply empathised with his situation and felt a deep sense of empathy with his disorder Inattentive ADHD. For here is the tale of a man who mastered the game of poker long before he could he could even master his own mind!
This is quite simply a brilliant book which being so, transcends poker itself and is a most engaging psychological thriller of a man at war with his worst enemy - his own mind and its demons - while struggling to escape same through excelling at the game of poker. I will not say any more except that you should have no doubt in buying this book whoever you are and whatever little interest you may even have in one of poker's wildest and most verbose champions: Mike "The Mouth" Matusow. A stunningly compelling autobiography. Full marks for sure.
Awesome
I found this book utterly gripping, that said one needs to be a poker player to appreciate it.
I bought it on a whim, however am completely amazed at the path of Mike.
Well done on the book and your way of being now!
