Organized by appellation, there is an A-Z chateaux listing of more than 1000 leading and lesser-known estates giving profiles of each including in-depth production details. Customer Reviews
Nice & compact
Nice & compact reference; I appreciate that not all 'chateaus' are evaluated positive as some guides almost seem to do; but put them sometimes in a negative perspective. I missed price indications like the Hachette guide does; and it would be nice to see some more illustrations like more detailed little maps of villages.
Still it is worth to have a second opinion next to Palmer, Hachette ... Don't trust a single reference.
The Best Quick Reference Guide to Bordeaux Wines
Working in the wine business, I have a copy of this book on my desk and feel lost without it! It is easy-to-use and jam-packed with up-to-date, reliable information on all the Châteaux in the region. The maps and layout are clear and concise, and I particularly appreciate the star ratings and vintage notes for making informed decisions on what wines to buy, keep or drink! The book also highlights some of the lesser-known Châteaux that provide great value for money and comments on the changes in ownership bringing improvements to many properties. A fascinating read and a great reference guide.
A classic with great background info
I have the honour of having read all the various editions of this great classic. Some may seem slightly out of date compared with Duijker's atlas or even Parker, but for history and detail in depth it is a great book. Has a place in every winelovers library.
