Product Description

Have you ever flashed at a zooter in the corridor of
uncertainty while on a sticky dog? Maybe you've seen someone hit a mulligan
out of the screws to grab a birdie at Amen Corner?

The world of sport has its own language, wonderfully rich in strange words
and phrases, whose origins often stretch back centuries. Veteran BBC
presenter and football legend Bob Wilson has written this brilliant
illustrated guide to the fascinating true meanings, heritage and evolution
of the great sporting terms we use today.

Sports fans, pedants and linguists5
The perfect antidote to not having satellite sports channels and an obvious choice if you, or you know someone who does, spend far too much time skipping through the sports channels -- only able to be moved after just one more over, set, goal or tiebreak... It's quick and easy to read, with witty accompanying illustrations, a book to pick up for five minutes or refer back to in order to prove that point or win that bet (sportsman's of course). It covers many familiar words and phrases giving some interesting explanations to things you thought you knew. As well as arming you with the necessary ammunition to casually impress at the pub quiz or settle that 19th hole debate with a new set of names/phrases and to be able to pedantically explain their origin.

It's going to be a perfect present for a huge swathe of family and friends -- can't recommend it enough.

Must Have5
This is a definite for any sport nut's bookshelf. A great stocking filler too for those that enjoy their sport, be it playing or spectating. you can stun your mates with your knowledge of useless trivia and talk them through each terrible shot that they play be it on the golf course, cricket or footie pitch.
i highly recommend this and hope you get as much entertainment out of it as i have.
