Ten brilliant stories about Horrid Henry's evil enemies - Moody Margaret, Sour Susan, Stuck-Up Steve, Bossy Bill, Perfect Peter and Rabid Rebecca the Bogey Babysitter, to name just a few - and how he schemes to outwit them, sometimes successfully, sometimes not. Alongside these much-loved and laughed-over stories there is lots of new material, such as Horrid Henry's Top Secret Plan to Rule the World, Rules for a Secret Club, a Wanted poster, an exchange of rude notes between Henry and Moody Margaret, diagrams, battle-plans and recipes for Glop. With many pictures in colour, including some new ones, this is a gorgeous treat for all Horrid Henry fans, just as funny and inventive as HORRID HENRY'S BIG BAD BOOK and HORRID HENRY'S WICKED WAYS.

Editorial Reviews
Review
'If you've had it with glittery fairy books, give them a tast of something a bit slimier and more raucous: Francesca Simon's Horrid Henry is a mischievous little boy who always says the wrong thing, but just about manages to be lovable.' (SUNDAY EXPRESS )
'Despite his nasty nature, Henry is a beguiling hero who has entranced millions of reluctant readers... Little rebels will love this collection and even little angels will be secretly thrilled by Henry's anti-heroic behaviour.' (Vanessa Curtis THE HERALD )
'one of today's best children's writers... Henry is a cheeky and horrible boy, but the pranks he gets up to will have young readers laughing out loud.' (WOMEN'S WEEKLY )
About the Author
Francesca Simon spent her childhood on the beach in California, and then went to Yale and Oxford Universities to study medieval history and literature. She now lives in London with her husband and their son. When she is not writing books she is doing theatre and restaurant reviews or chasing after her Tibetan Spaniel, Shanti. Tony Ross is one of the most popular and successful of all children's illustrators, with many picture books to his name. He has also produced line drawings for many fiction titles.

Rip off
My kids love Horrid Henry stories, and I love reading them to them, but we are all getting completely fed up with the amount of material that Francesca Simon and her publishers recycle. In book after book you find stories that have been published elsewhere - sometimes completely altered. It is the same in this collection. Chances are that if you are a Horrid Henry fan and you buy this you will be shelling out for material you already own. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE Francesca Simon stop this practice (or at the very least make it crystal clear in publicity if there is any reprinted work in 'new' books)
a disappointment
My children adore Horrid Henry, so when I saw this title, I ordered it for my daughter's birtday. Other HH lovers beware! This isn't a new book. It is largely a compilation of stories previously published. There is some new stuff, but if you order this thinking you are getting a new book of Henry's adventures, you will be disappointed. The way it was described made me think it was new stories, but there is little new stuff here. Great stories, as ever, but if you are an HH fan, you will have the majority of these on your bookshelf already. However, if you are a Horrid Henry beginner, then this would be a good way to introduce him to your young readers, as these are good stories.
Ten favourite stories and more ! Yes this is a great compilation of old Horrid Henry stories
I had deduced that this collection of ten Horrid Henry stories were reprints of previously published ones, hence the 'favourite stories' and 'collection' tags. This purple "Horrid Henry's evil enemies" book compliments and matches the previous two 'ten story' compilations: "Horrid Henry's wicked ways" (Henry's home life - Red) and "Horrid Henry's big bad book" (Henry's school nightmares - Yellow). The stories in this book are: Horrid Henry and moody Margaret, Horrid Henry and the secret club, Horrid Henry's Christmas, Horrid Henry's Haunted house, Horrid Henry's raid, Horrid Henry goes to work, Horrid Henry's stink-bomb, Horrid Henry and the bogey babysitter, Moody Margaret moves in, Moody Margaret casts a spell, and an Evil Enemies fact file (the new 'bonus' bit).
The hardcover book is attractively presented with all the original colourful illustrations. It is well bound with quality paper, has a dustcover, and totals 190 pages. The hardboard cover colour even matches the dustcover, although this volume has a shiny light blue plastic finnish rather than the red/yellow contrasting 'cloth' of the previous two otherwise identically presented compilations (the loose dustcovers match perfectly though giving them the look of a quality set). All three volumes look very nice together and aren't so heavy or large that they become difficult to read at bedtime, they can just be supported by one hand - each book is 9 x 6.5 x 0.75 inches and weighs about 675g. My son (a poor reader, now just 11) has always enjoyed Horrid Henry, and now he is pleased that he can read these easy stories for himself. They are ideal for boys around 7+. So a highly recommended compilation of [Don't be] Horrid Henry's stories, going for a knock down price.
