Passchendaele is a subject which has been repeatedly covered in the form of military analyses and personal accounts. However, surprising little has been written about the tens of thousands of men who died in the battle. How was it possible that so many men were killed? How were they buried and how have they been remembered up to the present day at Tyne Cot Cemetery? These two fundamental research questions have resulted in a two part book, which is based on two innovative projects in the area of biographical research: The Passchendaele Archives and the Tyne Cot Cemetery Inventarisian Project. Passchendaele
Excellent work about the useless battle, fieldmarshal Haig how saw the soldiers just as "canonfood", numbers not as people.
Very good pictures, this is a "must have" for the Great War collector.

A moving tribute to the fallen
This book is special for a number of reasons. It recounts the personal stories of the men who fought at Passchendaele and contains contributions from many relatives (me included - pg 85) whose families paid the ultimate price for the victory won in 1917. The photographs and layout are superb as is the coverage of the development of Tyne Cot cemetery.
This book is a well presented and moving tribute to those brave young men who didn't live to see the dawn of freedom in Europe in 1918.
