From England's finest angling historian, and author of the 1979 classic "The Domesday Book of Mammoth Pike", here is the definitive collection of every giant Atlantic salmon caught on record and the stories of their capture. Years in the making, this is a fisherman's treasury, a new classic from Fred Buller. It contains the dates, weights and detailed catch history of every recorded Atlantic salmon (Salmo salar) over 50lb landed in Europe and North America, whether on the fly, by rod or other means. Each of the case histories is entertainingly told, with plenty of background information, and most feature original photographs of the catches, their locations and the fishermen. All the cases have been carefully examined, and details double-checked for accuracy. Also included are sections on: Tales of lost fish, Salmon fishing in Norway, Big salmon caught in Finland and Sweden, The Decline of the River Rhine, Total of salmon caught weighing over 60 lb since 1700, The Top Twelve giant salmon caught on fly since the end of World War II and Captain Tinkler's 51lb Tweed salmon.

Obviously some very extensive research has been carried out to produce this excellent book. Its big in form, big in fish and big in information along with some fantastic photography. It certainly is not a bedside reading book due to its size.If I caught a River Wharfe Brownie the weight of this book,I'd be a very happy man.Its a must for anyone who gets turned on by large salmon.(Is there a salmon fisherman that isn't!!)
If you order this book via this website make sure you're in to take delivery.Or make sure you have a very wide letterbox. Its a monster!!
Massive Salmon!
Fantastic piece of work bought for my mad fishing Dad that has obviously involved a huge amount of hard work and investigation. The narratives behind the catching of the fish paint a real picture of the the experience of the anglers involved and add something special to the photographs. A truly great book that all salmon anglers should buy and great reading throughout the close season. My Dad has loved working his way through the book this winter inparticular the chapter on his beloved River Ewe and the stories behing the huge salmon caught there many years ago.
