Synopsis
Welcome to the world of the WAGs! 32-year-old Tracie Martin is Luton Town FC's longest-serving WAG -- for 12 years her husband Dean has kept her in raccoon hair extensions and quilted Chanel bags. But looking around at the new breed of WAGS, Tracie is disgusted to see that standards have started to decline -- some of them have been spotted in skirts that cover their bottoms and one or two have never drank four bottles of champagne on a night out! And what's worse, Dean is dropped from the first team and Paskia Rose (despite Tracie buying her a Heat subscription and taking her to Cricket) is only interested in the rules and skills of the beautiful game -- she wants to follow in her father's footsteps rather than her mother's stiletto-clad ones. What's a WAG to do? Armed only with her Smythson notebook and Tiffany pen, Tracie sets out to write the definitive rulebook on life as a WAG. Containing such sage advice as 99.4% of your nutrition should come from Bacardi Breezers and mantras for life such as WAGS can be orange, they can be caramel, but they CANNOT be white, Tracie soon develops a cult following.Surely it's only a matter of time before the Queen of the WAGS -- Victoria Beckham -- wants to be her new best friend?

Brillian!
This has got to be the funniest book I've read in a long time!! I (like most people) got it free with glamour, along with a number of other books, put it in my suitcase for a bit of reading whilst on holiday. I didnt actually think id like it, its not the sort of book id go for as i tend to prefer more horror and mystery stories but i just couldnt put it down! It had me in stiches at some parts, even so that my boyfriend made me read the bits out to him. Its a very tongue in cheek novel but well worth the read. Ive now lent the book to my best friend with a firm recommendation. Ive also bought the sequel (which i managed to find in sainsbury's as the local asda didnt have it) which is also just brilliant!! Well worth a read! Well done on a very funny first novel and i shall be looking out for further books by Alison Kervin.
Laugh out loud funny.
I couldn't put this book down. I found Tracie extremely endearing, her love and devotion to her husband and daughter and her wish to provide a service to future WAG's was sweet as well as funny.
Biggest waste of time and paper EVER
I also got The WAG's Diary free with Glamour magazine while traveling on a 5 hour train journey and tried so hard to read it as I was bored stiff. However I could not bring myself to read on past the 1st chapter - and accomplishing that was an effort.
I agree whole heartedly with the other 1 star reviewers, it is atrociously composed and written. I have no idea how anyone can even finish this book never mind award it 5 stars.
Maybe Alison should concentrate on gaining her 11th sports coaching badge and leave the chic lit alone - it is an embarrassment to the genre.
