A liitle overrated
While the story of Charles "Sonny" Liston is an interesting one, and the author does dig deep into, the book is greatly let down by the quality of the writing.

Yes the author may be an established journalist and university lecturer but the writing in this book is often mundane and pretensious.

There are several instances where he uses unnecessary words to make himself sound intelligent but all he manages to do is force the story to lose pace.

The end result is as boring as the sport Steen really follows, Cricket.

Shame really because a proper boxing writer such as Thomas Hauser would probably have made told Liston's story in the manner it deserved.
