Customer Reviews

Mildly disappointing, try Live Without A Net first.3
After the highs of Live Without A Net, this comes as a mild disappointment. The overall quality of musicianship is as high as ever but the fun seems to be lacking. The band had already started the long running aguements that saw Sammy Hagar leaving 3 years later and it shows. General clowning around is missing and the boys seem to be going through the motions rather than enjoying themselves. The track listing is very much biased to then-current For Unlawful Carnal Knowledge which was a less than brilliant album and the 'lack of enthusiasm' criticism could also be applied to the album as well as concert. As a result, much of the music seems flat, only picking up when old classics like Jump and When It's Love spring up. Unfortunately these are few and far between.

Not Bad, but not great4
In fairness to the band, and in reference to the two previous reviews, the gig was recorded on 2 different nights, and we are told as much at the start as the editors thoguht this was the best way to capture the highlights. Also the emphasis towards the Carnal Knowledge album is obvious, because it is recorded on the Unlawful Carnal Knowledge tour. The concert is good, well put together, superb musicianship as always. However the fun and frolics of Live Without a Net are a wee bit lacking here. None the less the tracklisting is good and each memebers solos are fantastic, althogh they are visibly separated on stage. Also Hagar seems to go to great lenghts to prove just how much he and Ed are "buddies", when quite clearly they are not. Without a Net is lacking in the hits department for for the pure energy shown on stage, Id start there

Patch performance2
Dreadful editing ( I thought the idea of live performance is not to cut and stitch it back together afterwards) Sammy Hagar changes t-shirts from shot to shot(obviously scraped together from different nights) rather like Mr Ben with long blond hair!! Material not from the best period. There must be some classic recordings of VH with DLR on vocals. Why release this?
