Customer Reviews
Brother to Brother 23 years later.
I was first introduced to this artist when I was in my teens and I'm 41 now, after many years I saw a Gino Vannelli tape on sale in a store and although it was not Brother to Brother after palying it I was instantly reminded of the style and quality of music that this musician creates. A couple of years later I saw Black Cars another more recent album by Gino Vanelli, not as impressed by this as by his earlier albums I wondered where his talent had gone for creating albums like he did. Now after about 23 years a bell rang in my head 'Brother to Brother' what a brilliant album and those who buy it should not be disapointed, ageless and timeless this album is a classic example of creative genius in it's own right mixed in the studio the sound is fantastic and well produced. What I would give to see this artist live, I hope anyone who buys this album enjoys it and would not have made a mistake.
Brother, It's Superb
This is a seriously under-rated album. Top rate songs, magnificent musicians, great production. There is a definite jazz tone throughout and perhaps that affected the commercial success when originally released. Yet, the whole project is very accessible and not all of Vannelli's albums are. It is his finest moment. The album where it all clicked into place. The best track, without doubt is I Just Wanna Stop, a classic. For someone who has had major label backing Gino Vannelli remains a cult figure, a mysterious Canadian out there on the fringe of success and I suspect that he enjoys his position somewhat. Maybe he'll be rediscovered or re-evaluated. I hope so because albums like this deserve to be heard and enjoyed, if you get what I mean, brother?
as good now as it was when it was first released
fantastic - I first heard this on LP when I was a student, and have recently listened to it again - don't know how I managed to go almost 20 years without hearing it. Dateless, timeless, fantastic musoc and lyrics.
