Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
An album that defines virtually everything that is right about adult contemporary pop--and yes, there are a few things--Cry Like a Rainstorm, Howl Like the Wind contains lush, orchestrated arrangements of songs by first-rate tunesmiths such as Jimmy Webb, Eric Kaz, Paul Carrack, Barry Mann and Cynthia Weill, Isaac Hayes and Karla Bonoff. Four cuts, including the Grammy-winning "Don't Know Much", feature duets between Ronstadt (still singing with power and assurance even at the top of her range) and angel-voiced Aaron Neville. Other highlights include "Adios", with multi-tracked background vocals by Brian Wilson, and the title song, which is driven to new heights by the Skywalker Symphony Orchestra and the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir. --Daniel Durchholz

CD Description
This is a touching, beautiful album, with Ronstadt's voice the centre of a wonderful production. "Still Within The Sound Of My Voice" is a lush ballad featuring the Skywalker Symphony Orchestra (who appear on most of the album). "Cry Like A Rainstorm" adds the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir to create a big, powerful ballad. "All My Life" is a blissful ballad and the first of four duets with Aaron Neville. "Don't Know Much" shows what happens when Ronstadt and Neville harmonise together to create soprano wonderment (and a smash Top 10 hit).
"Adios" features Brian Wison's background vocals, and is a classic California ballad. "Trouble Again" is a rocker featuring Andrew Gold on 12-string guitar. "So Right, So Wrong" is a gospel rocker penned by Paul Carrack and Nick Lowe. "When Something Is Wrong With My Baby" is the final duet with Neville and the most soulful. "Rainstorm" was produced by Peter Asher and is a moving record full of rich harmonies and effective arrangements.

Great!5
This CD, which was released in 1989, is a great collection of twelve great Linda Ronstadt tunes. As a matter of fact, four of them are duets with the great Aaron Neville, and the Skywalker Symphony Orchestra backs all of them up. This is a great CD, one that shows off Ms. Ronstadt's copious talents to good effect. I highly recommend this CD!

Brilliant, Especailly the Duets!3
I wanted to get the song "All my Life", which was sang in Baywatch, many years ago the time Billy and Shauna were getting married on the beach. After listening to all the other songs, I would indeed purchase another one of Linda Ronstadt albums as I truly enjoyed this one and the duets with Aaron Neville are excellent. Seen Aaron in concert witht the Neville brother in 1991 when I was staying with a family in Virginia! Anyway, I'm 24 and not a big lover of country, but this was brill!!!
