Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
Gettin' by with a little help from her friends, you have to know that Missy Elliot means business when her CD starts out with an intro by rap's reigning jester, Busta Rhymes ("Busta's Intro"). From there on, Elliot's soulful vocals and clever raps would serve to be strong enough on it's own, but the whole disc becomes a super-powered collective when a host of celebrities contribute on nearly every song. There's the built-for-cruising grooves of "Sock It 2 Me" featuring Da Brat on trademark lightening-fast rhymes, the sultry Ginuwine-marked "Friendly Skies" and "Best Friends" with Aaliyah. Supa Dupa Fly is a disc filled with woman-empowering lyrics and philosophies, but those looking for a role model for young children should be forewarned; some rough language is mixed in with the disc's good intentions. --Denise Sheppard

CD Description
As a member of the R&B group Sista, Missy Elliott went almost unnoticed. It wasn't until years later, when she placed her trademark "hee-hee-hee-hee-ha" lyrics on a Gina Thompson remix that she achieved recognition. Missy's songwriting credits include a number of R&B hits (SWV's "Can We" and Aaliyah's "4 Page Letter"), and her familiar vocal style has been featured on some of the year's hottest remixes, including Li'l Kim's "Not Tonight".
Produced by Timbaland (Ginuwine, Aaliyah), SUPA DUPA FLY showcases the studio whiz's unique recording techniques. The tempos here are much slower than onthe average hip-hop release, with rhythms akin to dancehallmusic. Missy doesn't limit herself to rap, either. Many of the songs on SUPA DUPA FLY fall easily into the R&B bag, especially when Missy swaps her hard-core hip-hop lyrics for a smooth laid-back approach.

Laid Back Lovliness5
This album is pure bliss. If you love the laid back sounds of Snoop Doggs the Dogfather you will love this. Definately one for maxin & relaxin.

Missy's best album4
this was Missy's debut album from way back in 1997, when not many people had heard of her then including myself, but is probably her best.

this album is just simple chilled RnB and hip hop with no club tunes, like on later albums which Missy has become famous for. most of the tracks on here are solid efforts with my personal favs being sock it to u and beep me 911 with 702, these tracks are banging. although admittedly like any missy album there are a few duff tracks on here like her first single the rain, which is one of the stupidest tracks i have ever heard in my life.

overall by this album if you like chilled RnB and hip hop tunes.
