Customer Reviews
Jody Watley pure genius
This has got to be my favourite album of all time, sweeping statement I know but just listen to it and agree with me !!
This is my third copy of the album, the first two got damaged. Why Jody never took off in England I will never know, liken the music to that of Janet Jackson of five years ago but remember this album was around 1987 !!!! Pure genius and a great album to listen to whilst driving long winding roads at great speed !!!! Buy this album it is awesome !!!
An Extremley Underated Album !
Jody Watley is the 80's star that never was! She had a monster hit with Looking For A New Love (which won her a 1987 grammy award for best new artist) then her career stalled in the UK and a few minor hits followed. But if you listen to this CD you can only think what were the music buying public thinking??? The album is full of pristine pop tunes that should have been massive. This is some of the best female pop music to come from the 80's second only to the music Madonna was producing at the time. In fact Madonna's writing partner Pat Leonard had a hand in producing and writing the album along with Bernard Edwards of Chic fame. The singles released from this CD were big hits for Jody in the USA but made little impact in the UK. Its an album which will stay in your head from the first listen. Songs such as Some Kind Of Lover, Don't You Want Me and Most of All (my favourite) are genius, and the pop puppets of today would be killing to get hold of such fantasic material. The CD also includes Jody's little known duet with George Micheal (Learn To Say No) which gave him some exposure in the USA before he hit the big time over there with the Faith album. Jody's later albums were also excellent and deserving of much more attention but this her first solo project was her best.
