CD Description
Since 1984, The Red Hot Chili Peppers have combined a punk sensibility with a lavish devotion to funk and all its facets. Having already scaled the heights of platinum status after living in the land of obscurity, the Chili Peppers have released OUT IN L.A., a chapter of their lives from when they were still unknown. This collection is broken into four sections: remixes, live tracks, demo versions of existing material, and previously unreleased songs.
Remixes include a James Brown flavoured "Higher Ground" and an extended take of "Hollywood" that just oozes grooves. Their live rendition of"Castles Made Of Sand" stays true to Hendrix's original while demo versions of "Get Up And Jump" and "Green Heaven" show off the intense interplay between bassist Flea and late guitarist Hillel Slovak. The other major bond in the group is between vocalist Anthony Kiedis and Flea, who are the sole participants on the previously unreleased "What It Is". Also included in time for the holidays is "Deck The Halls" done Chili Peppers style.

OUT IN L.A - (outakes)
This album is basically the songs that Hillel played for the Red Hot Chili Peppers (self - titled) but didnt get on because he couldnt go on to a different contract because he another band.
There are some lives on this album F.U & Speacial secret song inside and the Jimi Hendrix cover Castles made of sand.
There are other songs aswell like What it is and Stranded that arnt live, they were just outakes and didnt make it onto albums
Also there are remixes on the album (higher ground&if you want me to stay)
In all this is a good album but its also EMI getting the Chilis to use up there 7 album record deal with them (it could have been better)
ACE
This album is brilliant. If you love Blood Sugar Sex Magik it's well worth checking this out. Its a pretty raw but sounds fantastic. If you're only into Californication and By the Way it might not be 100% you're cup of tea.
Bass, rhythm, guitar riffs galore.
Lo-fi sounds from the maniac punksters proves their ability to create off the cuff, with groovy takes on album numbers, studio off-cuts, all done up with a festive ending - harmonies which must have taken a lot of attempts to get so wrong! A brilliantly funky album.
