Spellbinding
Shalamar were one of those groups that for the time they were around with Howard Hewitt, Jody Watley and Jeffery Daniels got it absolutely spot on. This album is such a joy with happy upbeat songs such as 'A Night to Remember', 'On Top of the World' and the title track, as well as more downbeat numbers for when times are not so good such as 'I don't wanna be the last to know' and 'Help Me'. The real magic here is how the vocals combine and link in with the arrangements to give an aurally rich platter on which to feed. Whatever the emotion it is so strongly conveyed without being over the top, you cannot help be moved. They did other very good material on other albums but this was the most consistent. What a way to say life matters and don't forget to live it.
An Album to remember!!!!!
This was Shalamar's big breakthrough album. Every track on this CD is a sure fire winner. I bought this CD was back in 1984, it cosy me a fortune then as CD's were quite new and like most kids I wanted the new technology, having paid £16.99 (price ticket still on CD) I indulged myself after having seen Shalamar play on TOTP. The whole CD is a pure polished joy to listen too Jody Watley's vocals sounding so crisp and clear that I had to hunt out the other albums but they do not measure up to this album as the band's musical differences start to show on the Look and then they were no-more except for the brief resurrection on heartbreak and the other two but the real Shalamar is a joy to hear. but this CD add it to your collection and set your clock back to 1982, regress and party on!

This is one of the best albums ever made featuring all 4 UK hits - There It Is, Friends, I Can Make You Feel Good and the Shalamar Anthem A Night to Remember. There are also some really good ballads and duets. This is 80s disco and Shalamar at their best.
