Sensing that they had perhaps gone overboard in sweetening their sound with too many synthesizers on their past two hitalbums, 1985's HEART and 1987's BAD ANIMALS, Heart attempted a return to basics for their first '90s release, BRIGADE. While not as raw and straight-ahead as early classics such as DREAMBOAT ANNIE, it was another release worthy of chart success and fit perfectly into the rock radio climate of the time. Like all of Heart's past records, BRIGADE's track list is a blend of both ballads ("Secret", "I Don't Want to Need You") and rockers ("Wild Child", "The Night").

Brigade
If you've already discovered Heart through their Greatest Hits collection, then Brigade may well be the next album you should buy.
It contains tracks that may not have been big hits, but are surely among their best songs, namely Secret and I Want Your World To Turn.
A mix of slower power ballad type songs and more up tempo rockier numbers, Brigade could well be Heart's best album.
You won't be disappointed!
hearts best album
In my opinion "Brigade" was Heart's last truly outstanding release and sadly it came over a decade ago and we have not heard anything decent from them since. The album has a very commercial based rock sound to it, a sound that I would compare to the rock music that Bryan Adams makes only the vocals are by a female. The album is very mid tempo and in no way gets hard and is just right for when you want to party but don't want to get too hardcore. The lyrics are in no way deep or metaphoric and are either tell a story or are just there to have a good time to. Obviously the best track on the album is the huge hit "All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You", a rock ballad about a one night stand and the consequences thereof, but the rock tracks "Wild Child" and "The Night" also standout. This is my second favourite album by the band after "Bad Animals" and is highly recommended by myself.
