Amazon.co.uk Review
Rarely has a "best-of" package been so aptly (or so admirably) named. While never quite able to shake off the inevitable ABBA comparisons, Sweden's Roxette have, indeed, worked to a fairly simple blueprint over the course of their 13-year career: simple, workmanlike songs with insistent hooks; occasionally daft lyrics--sounding, at times, like a cruel parody of Europop--and slick, radio-friendly production. In terms of commercial success, the result--over 40 million records sold--speaks for itself. Per Gessle and Marie Fredriksson first came to international attention with two singles, "The Look" and "Dressed For Success"--the latter, perhaps the most naked declaration of intent since the Pet Shop Boys' "Opportunities (Let's Make Lots of Money)". The careful placement of "It Must Have Been Love" in the Pretty Woman soundtrack didn't exactly hurt their careers either, and from that point on their fame was assured. Later efforts ("June Afternoon", one of four new tracks included here) have hinted at the influence of Prince, but why change a winning formula? --Andrew McGuire
CD Description
This brilliantly titled collection features 14 hits and four previously unreleased songs (from 1995). Everyone remembers Roxette's first international hit "The Look", but anyone within range of a radio station between 1988 and 1994 will know almost all of these songs. In the hands of a cynical songwriter, this kind of material would seem like little more than a calculated attempt at chart success. But Per Gessle, Roxette's primary songwriter, sounds as though he just happened to write huge smash hits merely as a by-product of playingmusic. His genius is his seemingly accidental pop perfectness.
It is hard to pick a standout track--they all are almost equally strong--but a song like "It Must Have Been Love"is particularly impressive because it has become so much a part of the collective pop unconscious that it is a surpriseto hear it here--wasn't this a hit back in the '70s performed by, say, Abba or someone? The four 1995 tracks are cut from the same cloth--"June Afternoon" is spectacularly cheerful, akin to Katrina and the Waves' "Walking on Sunshine", and"She Doesn't Live Here Anymore" is a big, crunching slab ofpower-pop that nails the style to a T.

Just Excellant!
If you love pop or soft rock, you will definitely love this album. Catchy choruses, upbeat melodies, silky vocals by Marie, pop songs with attitude are all here in this neat hits package. The album has classic songs like 'The Look', 'It Must Have Been Love', 'Joyride' and 'June Afternoon' which is one of Per Gessle's best composed song. Just buy the album!
Pretty daman good.
I've always been a bit of a roxette fan, especially after pretty woman was released. But never bought any of there stuff. This was the first time I decided to buy. And boy what a choice, excellent variety of songs, the oldies and some new stuff as well. Very well put together, and a nice CD. Well worth the cost.
