Avoiding the dreaded sophomore slump, Brandy delivers a fresh-sounding, well- crafted second album that sounds as much like pop as it does R&B. NEVER SAY NEVER features a song, "Have You Ever?", that was written by mega-songstress Diane Warren and produced by super-producer David Foster. The lead single, "The Boy is Mine" is a duet with fellow R&B'er Monica. Keeping up with the trend of big-time collaborations, multi-platinum rapper Mase makes an appearance on "Top of the World", which seems custom made for jeep jockeys.
Although sprinkled with other contributors, most of the album was produced by Rodney Jerkins. With a focus that is sometimes loston a follow-up to a smashing debut, Brandy's composure and experience shine through in a product that is 16 songs deep. The album also contains a cover of "Everything I Do (I Do It For You)", produced by Foster.

Amazon.co.uk Review
Brandy has a lot to prove. She's had five Grammy nominations; she's won one Billboard Music Award, one American Music Award, and several Image and Soul Train awards; and she's sold over 4 million records--all by the age of 19. Never Say Never enters the scene after four years of sophomore jitters and plain old fear. And it enters with a bang. Brandy's voice suggests serious vocal training from her father, and strong songs--some written by her now-19-year-old woman-child self--attempt to take R&B back to its proper plateau. The album's first single, "The Boy Is Mine", and the Mase duet "Top of the World" serve as proof that Brandy still has the chops, determination, and cuteness to take a record to the top. --Asondra R. Wow!!!
All I can say is wow! If you like R&B, you're sure to love this album. Even today the beats still sound fresh. Brandy is one extremely talented young woman! I can listen to this album straight through without having to skip a single track. Brandy has a unique, clear and raspy voice which I just adore. My favourite tracks include: The Boy is Mine (duet with Monica), Almost Dosen't Count, You Don't Know Me, Never Say Never, Have You Ever, One Voice and Tomorrow. Fantasic album! A must-have! ~ Claire Elise Archibald. xxx
Brilliant
This album by Brandy is fantastic there is no other word for it!!!!
I dont think there is one Bad Song on this album the main one that does stick out from the rest of the album are "One Voice" This is a fantastic song and should have been released as a single.
The best of Brandy
Brandy's Best of album was good and showcased a lot of her great songs, but it was such a rushed product it wasn't as good as it could have been. For a real showcase of her best songs, look no further than this album.
Featuring such gems as The Boy Is Mine, Almost Doesn't Count, U Don't Know Me (Like U Used To), Never Say Never and Have You Ever, this sophomore album is packed with brilliant songs, all with much improved vocals since her debut and great production. Brandy's low, raspy voice is unique and beautiful; the songs featured on this album suit her voice perfectly, and the album plays along with total harmony, and with emotion.
Beside from the rather pointless In The Car interlude (which annoyingly breaks the flow of the album, which thankfully soon is fixed), it is difficult to choose a single song on this album that isn't worth listening to and enjoyable.
For any R&B fan, and particularly for anyone who has liked any song from this album or Brandy's later albums, listen to this album. This is Brandy at her best.
