If you're searching for a concise and compact sample of Queen in concert, the single disc LIVE MAGIC is the only logical choice. Originally issued as a European-only release in late 1986, it was finally released stateside 10 years later. Recorded at stops in Budapest, Knebworth Park, and Wembley Stadium during Queen's A KIND OF MAGIC tour, LIVE MAGIC compiles live renditions of Queen's greatest hits from 1974 up to 1986. And although it's not an actual full-length set from the tour (the double-disc LIVE AT WEMBLEY '86 is a complete show), LIVE MAGIC is highly recommended to newcomers curious about the unique Queen concert experience.
The lead-off track from 1986's A KIND OF MAGIC, "One Vision", turns out tobe a superb concert opener, as you can actually hear the audience's cheers grow louder while the song's introduction leads to the band's grand entrance. Queen soon follows it up with an onslaught of hits--"Seven Seas Of Rhye", "Radio GaGa", "Bohemian Rhapsody", "Hammer To Fall", "Under Pressure" and many others. The track "Friends Will Be Friends" is inserted in the expected closing medley "We Will Rock You/We Are The Champions", adding a pleasant surprise for old-time fans.

Customer Reviews
Why edit such great songs?
The worst live album from Queen, Live Magic is so full of faults that it would take forever to fully explain them. Firstly, edeting. Why is there only 5 full versions of song's? It ruins classics like Bohemium Rhapsody and Tie Your Mother Down. Secondly, the song selection. This album contains hardly anything from the Live Killers album, and the songs come from the following album's: 1 from queen 2, 2 from a night at the opera, 1 from a day at the races, 2 from news of the world, 1 from the game, 1 from hot space, 4 from the works and 3 from a kind of magic. Why is there no keep yourself alive, play the game, crazy little thing called love, sheer heart attack or don't stop me now? Thirdly, the less that's said about sound quality is better. This album is good for your collection, but paying over £5 is not a very good idea. The best song's are A kind of magic, seven sea's of rhye, under pressure and hammer to fall.
Awful....
Kind of rushed out after that great Magic Tour of 1986; didn't like it in the good old vinyl days and now we have a better selection out there save your money and by the full concert on the Live at Wembley CD. A much more satisfactory souvenior of the occasion.
NOT Good . . .
Just wanted to back up what has been said most recently. This is not a good reflection of a great band live. The most obvious fault in it is the butchering of Bo Rap. They just lift out the entire middle section(!)
It's awful! The rest is ok-ish, but not at all what should have been released. Anything for a fast buck obviously. Really, the record company should be lambasted for this effort.
This is an affront to the memory of a well loved band. AVOID!!!!
