Great Stuff - Buy it!5
Unlike later albums, where his albums tended to explore a theme, Chris Rea is a simple collection of middle of the road songs.

However, to say the QUALITY of the songs is middle of the road would be a massive injustice. These are truly top notch tunes - beatufilly crafted, radio friendly pop. All the qualities of a classic album were there, it just (in my opinion) never got promoted enough by the record company.

Top notch tracks are Loving You, If You Choose To Go, Do You Still Dream? (Featuring a scorching guitar solo by the late Alan Murphy (Level 42, Go West)), Dammit - they're all great! not a duffer on the album! The production is marvellous too! Listen to Chris' slide playing on If You Choose To Go... Does the bit at the beginning sound like seaguls to you too? Lovely!

A worthy addition to anyone's collection. Thanks for reading.

An early Rea Classic5
This album has been massively underated over the years and if you have attended a Rea concert in last 20 yaers its highly unlikely you would have heard any of the tracks played, which is a shame because the whole CD is choc-a-bloc of quality melodic tunes.

His record company time was nearly up after 3 previous small selling LP's and looking at the cover it appears they try'ed to "jazz" his appearance up with some 80's fashions! but the material does definately not sound typical of the early 80's and it sounds as fresh today as it would have then.

This CD has never been a big Rea seller but I feel that if you do not have it already that you are definately missing out on some great tracks, in particular check out "Loving You", "If you choose to go" "Little Columbus" and "Guitar Street" - Great stuff - Just buy it!!

Rea settles down and finds his focus.5
After the diversity of Rea's previous two albums, he settles down into the style he uses today. This is best reflected on the opening track which shows his classic slide guitar style. Other good tracks include "Guitar Street," which resurfaced on 2000's "King of the Beach," "Do it for love," and "Runaway," also showcase Rea's classic style and make a good listen. As does "Just want to be with you," (a forerunner of a "Road to Hell," song)which has a fine sax break. The final track proves to be a worthy climax to the album. All in all, this is an album in which Rea first showcases the musical style he uses now, anyone who wants to understand how Rea's music has developed should listen to it.
