Customer Reviews
A very good album with a good mixture of styles
"Let's Get To It" was Kylie's first critically acclaimed album. Hip music paper NME, who'd previously knocked all her work, suddenly changed their tune with this record - they loved it, calling it "album of the month".
It starts off with the funky hit "Word Is Out", which is jazzy and dancy and poppy too. A great track.
Then we have Kylie's huge hit "Give Me Just A Little More Time" which is very strong.
!Too Much Of A Good Thing" is very cool and funky.
"Finer Feelings" is great but the single mix produced by Brothers In Rhythm is much better than this, already good album version.
The title track is uplifting and has a happy vibe. It is joyous and Kylie provides powerful vocals on the R n' B typed pop track.
"Live and Learn" is fun, simple pop and "No World Without You" is a good enough ballad.
The album is brought to a close with the High NRG "I Guess I Like It Like That", which is a great dance track (Lyrics from this track were sampled and inserted onto a brand new track, and remixed and entitled "Keep On Pumpin' It", which was a huge club hit for VISIONMASTERS and Kylie Minogue, which was ace.)
Pleasantly surprised by Kylie's R&B influenced project
Living in America, I haven't heard much out of Kylie after the first two albums until recently. I purchased "Rhythm of Love" and this album, and was pleased to see that PWL were more willing to showcase Kylie's vocal capabilities, especially in this album (most notably in "If You Were With Me Now" and "No World Without You" during which she is accompanied only by guitar). This album's tracks are more varied than those on "Rhythm of Love" and feature extensive use of backing vocals. In "Too Much of a Good Thing" the backup singers are so prominent throughout the whole song that there is no discernable lead vocal part, but the harmonizing's ace. Another thing I like about this album is the lack of obvious "filler" tracks like most of the non-single tracks on her first two albums. If I had to choose a least preferred track from this album, it would be "I Guess I Like it Like That" but only because the keyboard theme in the first part makes it sound dated.
Pleasantly surprised - very good pop
