CD Description
The Fun Lovin' Criminals debut release, COME FIND YOURSELF,is both a catchy love letter to the trio's New York City roots and a mid-'90s rap rock party album. Vocalist and guitarist Hugh Morgan, keyboardist and bassist Brian Leiser, and original drummer Steve Borgovini met at New York City's famedLimelight nightclub in the early '90s and started as a stand-in for bands who failed to show up. From that point on, Fun Lovin' Criminals cultivated their hip-hop beats, bluesy rhythms, and pop-culture themed rhymes. Heavily dominating thelyrical content are references to gritty urban living, samples from Tarantino movies, and send-ups of organized crime, as exemplified on the track "King of New York", boasting thesing-song chorus "La Di Da Di, Free John Gotti". Even though the band touches on dark themes, the music is energetic and funky enough to keep it from being too subversive. In the end, COME FIND YOURSELF is a perfectly crafted summertime party album.
Customer Reviews
Tangfastic!
I've had this album a long, long time and even after buying all their others, this one is still the original and best. From the outstanding 'Fun Lovin' Criminal' (best song ever, no contest) to the lovely cover version of 'We Have All the Time in the World' and everything in between, this is truly a great album. The guys couldn't get any funkier if they tried, and could make a Celine Dion cover sound like the coolest thing ever. If you don't have this album already, buy it - the best introduction to the best band in the world. Spread the word, and then go see them live!
The best thing since sliced bread
I love this album. I can honestly say that I am unable to fault a single track on it. That's quite a claim, but I can't think of anything that's wrong with it. From the euphoric highs of Scooby Snacks to the heady lows of Methadonia this album is quite simply outstanding. Not only is every track great but there is at least one for every occasion, be it the adrenalin pumping Crime and Punishment or the chilled, smooth the Grave and the Constant this album is perfection in 15 tracks. I'll just check...no, it's impossible to award 6 stars...pity.
Schmoove! The Ultimate Chill Out Album
This is a great album from Huey and the boys with every track superb in its own right. The FLC are undoubtedly one of the greatest bands around at the moment and are criminally (excuse the pun!) under-rated. I would recommend this CD to everyone, as well as their other masterpieces 100% Colombian and Mimosa. Great Stuff!
