Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
In the 1960s, Veronica and Estelle Bennett were the queens of girl group pop as leaders of the Ronettes. In the 1990s, Vernie and Easther Bennett led Eternal as the new girl pop queens. An uncanny coincidence and one worth bearing in mind when looking at the classic lineage of Eternal's fully-formed work. Their career was quite short, but they burned brightly all the way, leaving no room for mistakes or fillers. This greatest hits, then, is the very best of the best. They swing, they smooch and they seduce through a body of work that is made for the chart parade. Soulful solidarity and sisterhood is their gospel and no-nonsense pop grooves their playground. The feel-good factor runs high in Eternal and these stone-cold classics are made to last for eternity. It's lightweight commercial music with that added special dimension that makes these songs last the distance. --Ben Clancy

Greatest Highlight5
This is a great collection of some of Eternal's best songs. The highlight for me though is track that spent some 15 weeks in the charts and 1 week and number 1. It's 'I wanna be the only One', sung with Bebe Winans. This song kicked off the summer of '97 with a poignant sentiment the reminds us of the more positive attributes to taking a chance on a new relationship. It is a sound of the girls reaching a new phase in their lives, a phase where one becomes freed from the burden of ego, yet still retaining that popular-culture self-criticism that has imbued their entire catalogue with the errm edgiest of vibes. Here, eternal convey a confidence that exudes both lyrically and musically. Most notable is the line "Now you deserve a man to love, (my lord you do)", which is touching for both its identifiability and sincerity. With this, they have certainly secured a place in our hearts and minds for some time to come.

these girls are just unstoppable with there first UK no. 1 and three mutil - platnun selling albums behind them, they bold forward with there carears with there bestballad so far. "Angel of mine" beats anything and is considerably one of the best ballads of all time. Only reaching 6 in the UK chart - this was obviously well a head of it's time. The Greatest hit's album also feature' 2 other new songs including "Might as well be me" and "Finally". This album rounds off the Eternal carear with Kelle Bryan as she is asked to leave the group for not co-operating in the future plans of the group. This period spells out the darkest era in Eternal's history. Slanderous comments on "the evil sisters" action made it possible for there fifth album "Eternal" to completely fail in the UK with the only single release from it being "What'cha gonna do" only reaching no. 16 in the charts. this was certainly not diserved as the tune is equal match to TLC's "no scrubs" in it's message. This album is a brilliant album - recommend purchasing Eternals future albums including "Eternal".
