The Cult's best album5
I'm actually giving Sonic Temple four and a half stars as a couple of the later tracks could be classed as filler.
I think the one thing this cd has above all else compared with other Cult cd's i've got, is soul,it's there in spadefuls in the songs Edie and the sublime Sweet Soul Sister, add to this the superb out and out rockers Fire Women ,Sun King and Soldier Blue and you have the ingredients to make a fantastic rock album. If you like classic rock with soul then think no more ,order Sonic Temple now!

Transformation to rock band complete4
With this album, The Cult completed their transformation to a rock band. There are many strong songs on this album - Sun King, Sweet Soul Sister, Soul Asylum, Fire Woman. However, my feeling is the second half just drags. I have a certain degree of nostalgia for this given when it came out, I just don't think it had the same degree of complexity or interest as 'Love'. Having said that, you could do much worse than buy this album, which is arguably the Cult's second best.

The final installment in a trilogy of great Cult albums5
You had Love which was goth/rock/dance crossover, Electric was garage rock and Sonic Temple is American hard rock but if you think that sounds cheesey, boy do they do it well. Yes it's stadium rock but it still has those typical Cult moments to give each song a bit of class. The songs themselves are strong, Duffy's guitar work is sensational and Astbury is a phenomenal singer. Internal disputes and coming off the wagon meant things were never quite the same after this album but it stands the test of time as a great hard rock record. A lot of goth fans went off the band around the time of Electric and as this album is even rockier, they hated it. So ignore any negative reviews - if you like rock this album is a belter.
