Editorial Reviews
CD Description
One of several compilations bearing this title, this 1996 release on BCI Records contains not the original Tony Hatch arranged and produced hit singles from the '60s, but more recent re-recordings. Clark's voice sounds as terrific as always--if anything, she sings better now than she used to--but the arrangements lack Hatch's panache and verve, and a few misguided attempts to update the tunes mostly fall flat.
Diehard Clark fans might enjoy hearing the reinterpretations--"Don't Sleep in the Subway" is much more playful, for example. But more casual listeners will want one of the collections of original recordings, like Buddha's 1999 compilation DOWNTOWN.
Customer Reviews
amazingly cool
i had only heard one of her songs before i brought this album, which was "downtown" ( g8 song by the way)when i heard this album it just blew me away!
i may only be 15 and people might think im crazy listening to old music, but dont put it down till you ve heard her sound.
its great and really gives you such a variety.
even if you havnt heard all her songs but like blusey jazzey and some pop type sounds then this is the album for you!!
