If you're not prepared to shell out the big bucks for Rhino's earlier four-CD OTIS! box set, this sensibly put togethertwo-disc set may be all the Otis you need at a more reasonable price. Everything of note is here, including an early Pinetoppers track recorded when Redding was a Little Richard wannabe, and then all the hits from 1963's "These Arms of Mine" to the posthumous 1967 "Dock of the Bay". You also get two terrific duets with Carla Thomas, including the extremely down-home "Tramp", and five cuts from the Monterey Pop Festival, with Redding, backed by Booker T. and the MGs, laying the assembled hippies out in the aisles.

Amazon.co.uk Review
More filling than the two Very Best CDs in the Otis Redding catalogue, less hefty than the four-disc Otis! box, Dreams to Remember is a double set of highlights that's no doubt just what many new and old fans need. Mixing signature numbers such as "(Sittin' on) the Dock of the Bay" and "Respect" with lesser-known works of genius like "I Love You More Than Words Can Say" and "Trick or Treat", this package gives Redding his due once more--and in superfine style. --Rickey Wright
Customer Reviews
Was Otis the greatest?
Otis Redding was only 26 years old when he died which makes it all the more amazing when listening to this collection of his music that, had he lived, he would have gained due recognition as the greatest of all popular singers. Greater even than Ray Charles, Elvis Presley or Sam Cooke whom he obviously idolised. Otis was a great songwriter too and co-wrote many of the songs we associate with him. I had forgotten just how good a vocalist Redding was until I revisited him via this excellent compilation. In a way, the dearth of dead rock stars over the past thirty years has obscured Otis's legacy so, if only to put matters right and restore the legend of Otis Redding to its rightful place at the very top, I would suggest that you invest in this CD package. I am really glad to have rediscovered Otis Redding and believe that you will be too.
