If you like laid back R&B, BUY THIS!4
It's unfortunate that Omar never received the recognition he deserved. However, he was just another artist who fell victim to the fact his debut single ("There's Nothing Like This") was such a great song, he NEVER managed to equal -- never mind surpass -- the success it brought him. And that's a shame.

Released in the early 90s, "There's Nothing Like This" was actually a five track mini-album (and the first three tracks appeared on the original CD single!). Some may say the price is a bit steep as some artists have as many songs on a CD single nowadays, but believe me, the title track is worth the price of the album alone.

If you haven't heard the song "There's Nothing Like This" -- I'm sure it was remixed a few years ago -- put it this way, this was one of the first AND best "chill-out" tracks ever recorded. From the opening chords of that infectious mellow bass line to Omar's beautiful laid-back vocals, you can't help but feel 'relaxed'. So much so, I find myself pressing the repeat' button on the CD player and playing the song over and over again. Believe me, it is THAT good.

Unfortunately though, the other four tracks don't quite measure up in the quality department. They aren't bad -- "I'm In Love" was a reasonable follow-up single -- but once you play the whole (mini-) album, it's the first song that'll be best remembered.

On the success of (the track) "There's Nothing Like This", it seems it's one of life's great musical mysteries that Omar NEVER became a huge star. If you enjoy the soul associated with Gabrielle and the R&B of Craig David, I recommend you check out this CD. I assure you, you won't be disappointed.

Omar - There's Nothing Like This4
A fantastic album with classic song writing construction - each track made well before its time. Omar's deep soulful vocal sound is totally infectious. A blend of soul, funk, and the odd sensual ballard - it's a must and a real asset for any collection.

I love this album.5
Omar is one of the pioneers. So versatile, and with a voice made to chill out to. Playing and arranging his own tracks.
Of course the one and most famous recognisable track is the first. 'There's nothing like this.' The album is a mixture of soul, funk, and rnb - 90's style!
One of my favourite tracks is 'I dont mind the waiting'. So damn funky and it reminds me so much of 90's Summer's.
If like me you are one of the many people now that are searching out alternatives to modern day Rnb - which is a waste of time and many of these so-called artist that have no talent. Then this is one of the first albums you should get.
"Check the beat out!"
