CD Description
Recorded during the US tour for his fourth solo album, 1989's BUT SERIOUSLY, 1990's SERIOUS HITS...LIVE! is Phil Collins' first solo live album. True to its title, the album functions neatly as a live greatest hits summation; indeed, Collins' band, featuring longtime guitar sideman Darryl Steurmer,is so impeccably rehearsed that at times it's difficult to tell the difference between these recordings and the original studio versions.
Highlights include a solo piano rendition of "In the Air Tonight" that's nearly as thick with dread and atmosphere as the original, and a hypnotic, extended version of the Peter Gabriel-like "Take Me Home". If you're aPhil Collins fan, SERIOUS HITS...LIVE! is a pleasant diversion.

Phil Collins Serious Hits Live
This was my first ever CD when I was 5 or 6 and I still listen to it even to this day. And that was over 10 years ago.
If you like Phil Collins, then the live songs on offer are for you. It includes all of his hits to the time of the consort and offers powerful performances in some of his best songs.
'Another Day in Paradise' and 'In the Air Tonight' are great performances. There is much change in the sounds from the studio versions but I prefer that.
Its well worth hearing him in this Live performance as much as hearing on studio albums.
An album for anybody, especially those who like Phil & Genesis.
A good career overview
As good as Phil Collins' solo albums can be, they often contain no small amount of "filler", and the slick, glossy production on records like "Face Value" and "No Jacket Required" makes them seem somewhat dated.
But this live album remedies some of that. Although no-one can accuse Phil Collins' horn-laden pop music of being 'gritty', it nevertheless sounds a little more genuine and less over-produced, and the track list is very strong, including almost all of Collins' best songs of the 80s:
The spooky "In The Air Tonight" is here, as is "Take Me Home", "Separate Lives", "A Groovy Kind Of Love" and several others.
There is still too much synth on tracks like "Against All Odds" (an otherwise superb ballad) and "One More Night", but that's what Collins' music is like, and "Serious Hits...Live" remains a good, solid collection of adult pop songs.
If you like Phil Collins, you've gotta buy this!
I'm a fairly new fan of Phil Collins so I didn't quite know what to buy, but i've always liked live music so I chose this. It was the right choice.
All of his big hits are performed along with a screaming Chicago crowd that only add to the atmosphere. I particularly liked "Seperate Lives", "In the Air Tonite" and the medaly of "Can't Hurry Love" and "Two Hearts". The change over between the two songs is fantastic.
I cannot flaw this album one little bit. A must for all fans, 10/10!!!
