Two years after her first two releases, Kate Bush took her career into her own hands and produced NEVER FOR EVER. Though at the time she was younger than 21, Bush confidently became the careful, experimental studio-only artist she remainedfor the remainder of her career. Bush created a marriage ofgroundbreaking, up-to-the-minute technology with little-used acoustic instruments. She also tempered the little girl voice that was her trademark to produce a work of near brilliance.
NEVER FOR EVER opens with "Babooshka", a song that sets an auspicious stage for what follows. Her spiritual fascination continues with "Blow Away" and "All We Ever Look For". The theme of incest first hinted at on THE KICK INSIDE continues on "Infant Kiss". But the true highlights of this album are the lilting waltz of "Army Dreamers", as well as "Breathing", a song about an unborn baby who reports on a nuclear holocaust from within its mother's womb. This rich album hints at the many delights that were to follow in Bush's career.

MY FAV KATE BUSH ALBUM
This is my fav Kate Bush Album :) I recently collected her back catalog and this is definately the one I like most :) its dark, dreamy, great lyrics and creative. I recommend this album highly, its great from start to finish, her voice and lyrics are flying high with energy and imagination. Some people say their not too keen on the Violin track, I like it for the reason that Kate sounds crazy and fun! you have to hear it, I think shes on a musical high or something? doesn't sound like an easy tune to sing? reminds me of a tune by ABBA in the way they hit all sorts of notes, high/low etc. The rest of the tunes are just great, catchy and often odd in a great way :) check out the track egypt! one of the darkest tracks, I really like the one called 'all we ever look for', Never for ever also includes the hit Babooshka

The album artwork is unusual? I like it and wondered what was the story behind it? having all those creatures coming out from under her skirt?, and Kate looks very ghostly? I think it has a great/catchy album cover. If your after something more mainstream from her then I think hounds of love will suit you more (thats my least fav Kate Bush album would you believe)

Anyway, check out this album (my fav), also the classic kick inside, Lion Heart and the brilliant new album Aerial, those are the ones I like best :)

This album gets 5 because its one of those that stand out, its a classic, one of those albums you will go back to again and a keeper for your cd collection, that deserves a 5 star :)

Life altering for me,anyway ...
This fabulous woman did more for me than CND, communists and the pacifists ever did ; she in her haunting song 'Army Dreamers' convinced me not to join the Armed Services. Still an interesting album after twenty odd years!

Great for Kate
This is probably my favourite Kate Bush CD. It has clearly had alot of time spent on it in the studio - some may say over-produced but that fact that it's Kate's vision makes it truly fascinating.

Some people my find Kate's music painful to listen too, the only track that makes me cringe slightly is 'Violin', a bit too intense for an album that is generally laid-back. I usually skip this one. The words for her songs are sheer poetry, and with such crafted music and background sounds makes this a muscial journey for the head. My favourites includes: Babooshka, Delius Song, Egypt, Wedding List, Army Dreamers and Breathing. As you can see that's basically the whole album. An exceptional talent.....
