Product Description

After selling more than 12 million copies of SLIPPERY WHEN WET (and becoming the light-metal champions of the decade), Bon Jovi took its "Wanted Dead Or Alive" rock n' roll cowboytheme to the next level on NEW JERSEY. The album was produced by Bruce Fairbairn and engineered by Bob Rock-two masterswhen it comes to maximising a band's sound. Pledging allegiance to the band's home state, NEW JERSEY reeks of attitude, emotion, and the need to party.
"Lay Your Hands On Me" is a venerable cock-rock anthem, while the hooks and chorus of "Bad Medicine" 'continued the band's Top 10 streak. "BloodOn Blood" tells the story of childhood friends who maintaintheir bond to the end. "99 In The Shade" provides the musical backdrop for a group of friends taking an impulsive July cruise to the nearest shoreline. NEW JERSEY closes with "Love For Sale", a drunken sing-along about romance gone sour. The album represents Bon Jovi at the band's creative peak. Like a dream meeting of Bruce Springsteen and Clint Eastwood (with some Guns N' Roses thrown in for good measure), NEW JERSEY maintains Bon Jovi's harder-edged early sound while elevating the band to superstar status.

Editorial Reviews

Amazon.co.uk Review
In common with many bands who finally get what they always wanted--in Bon Jovi's case, thanks to Slippery When Wet, the sort of world domination normally only dreamt of by demented European dictators and Bond villains--Bon Jovi decided that they didn't really want it. Though New Jersey contains several stereotypically Jovi stadium anthems, such as the single "Bad Medicine", and though the videos showed that the intricately layered and feathered coiffures were intact, this is the album where Bon Jovi began changing. The title offers a broad hint as to what Jon Bon Jovi in particular was trying to change into--short of renaming the album I Come From The Same Place As Bruce Springsteen, he could scarcely have been more obvious about it. "Living In Sin", indeed, takes Bon Jovi's increasing obsession with Springsteen to the verge of pastiche. --Andrew Mueller

My Favorite Bon Jovi Album5
The remastered CDs have a red ring around the outside of the front of the disc so if you're buying this one make sure you're not being ripped off.

I've been a Bon Jovi fan for a long time now and this is my all time favorite album. It's their best of the early period, without doubt. Got some romancing songs, the good ol' power ballads, and some fun stuff. Top album.

Not as inspired as SWW1
I was impressed with the album before this one Slippery When Wet so I was eager to hear this one, a friend got it before me on cassette tape and lent it to me, I was very disappointed, I thought it sounded like they had just got a six pack of beer and an acoustic guitar and written a load of uninspired dribble, my opinion was cemented when later I heard an interview with John Bon Jovi where he actually said that thats how they write songs, ".... yeah we just get a six pack an an acoustic guitar and just party mann..." I later found out that the hit's on the previous album were written by professional song writers who they've never used again. think about it.

Glam Metal At Its Worst!!!!!!!2
Like the title says, Glam Metal At Its Worst....saved from a 1 star by a couple of descent tracks. Sooooooo boring and over polished!!!!!!
